Referee Waleed Serves As Third Man During World Title Bout In Japan!

Congratulations to Beltway-based referee Malik Waleed who recently served as the third man in the ring for the IBF Mini-Flyweight championship contest at the Ota-City General Gymnasium in Tokyo, Japan on Sunday, July 23rd.  During the contest, Hiroto Kyoguchi of Tokyo (8-0, six KO's) won the title with a 12-round unanimous decision over defending champ Jose Argumedo of Tepic, Nayarit, Mexico (20-4-1, 12 KO's).

This was Waleed's third world title bout in the past 15 months.  On April 8th, 2016, Waleed traveled to Moscow, Russia to referee the IBF and IBO Super Lightweight title bout between champion Eduard Troyanovsky and challenger Cesar Rene Cuenca.  Twenty-two days later, Waleed returned home and served as the referee for the IBF Super Middleweight championship contest between titleholder James DeGale and Rogelio Medina at the DC Armory in Washington, DC.
