Beltway Boxers Win More Titles On Final Day of Junior Olympic Championships!

Five more Beltway Amateurs captured national titles on the concluding day of competition at the Junior Olympic, Prep Nationals and Youth Open at the Charleston Civic Center in Charleston, WVA.

Reisterstown, MD's Lorenzo Simpson added another championship to his trophy case by winning the Youth 165 Pound title with a 5-0 decision over Kahshad Elliott of Plainfield, NJ.  Simpson's gym mate, Donte White of Baltimore, MD captured the Junior 176+ championship defeating Tyree Chapman of Detroit, MI by a 4-1 score.  Simpson and White, along with female national champion Candice Carter, are all out of the Upton Boxing Center in Baltimore.

Nasheed Smith of Washington, DC took home the title in the Youth 178-Pound division, winning a 4-1 decision over Chavon Davis of Mansfield, OH.

The tournament was a nice one for the Davis Brothers, Keyshawn and Keon of Alexandria, VA by way of Norfolk, VA.  Keyshawn Davis built on the National Golden Gloves title he won in May by capturing the Youth 132 Pound championship with a 5-0 decision over Harley Mederos of New York, NY.  Keon Davis won the Junior 110 Pound championship with a 3-2 decision over Jalen Walker of Gardens, CA.

Anthony Gibson, Washington, DC -- Pee Wee 9-10 Novice 85 Pounds

Jalil Hackett, Washington, DC -- Intermediate 114 Pounds

Candice Carter, Baltimore, MD -- Youth Female 112 Pounds

Donte White, Baltimore, MD -- Junior 176+ Pounds

Nasheed Smith, Washington, DC -- Youth 178 Pounds

Keon Davis, Alexandria/Norfolk, VA -- Junior 110 Pounds

Keyshawn Davis, Alexandria/Norfolk, VA -- Youth 132 Pounds

Lorenzo Simpson, Reisterstown, MD -- Youth 165 Pounds

Also, Region 2, which features DC and Baltimore, captured the team titles in both the Bantam and Novice divisions.
