G. Antuanne Russell Wins First Olympic Bout!

Gary Antuanne Russell has won his first bout at the Summer Olympics in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil.

The Capitol Heights, MD light welterweight won a unanimous decision over Richardson Hitchins of Haiti, by way of Brooklyn, NY.  Russell will face Wuttachai Masuk of Thailand on Sunday.

By the way, the United States is 6-1 in boxing competition thus far and light flyweight Nico Hernandez of Wichita, KS has advanced to the semifinals, so he will be the first male American boxer to win an Olympic medal since 2008.
