Over the past five months, former WBO Super Lightweight champion DeMarcus "Chop Chop" Corley has been participating in a version of "The Contender" on the island of Jamaica. Corley was a part of a USA team that battled a number of young boxers from the Caribbean.
Score one for experience. The 42-year old Beltway Boxing legend blew through the competition to capture the championship in the “Wray & Nephew Jamaican Contender Series” by coming back from a fifth-round knockdown to defeat Richard "Frog" Holmes of Jamaica on July 2 via seventh-round knockout. Corley knocked out two of his opponents during the competition on the way to winning the first prize of two million Jamaican dollars (US equivalent: $15,829).
The bouts count on Corley's record which now stands at 47-27-1, 28 KO's.
