Smith Wins Split Decision; Pierce Scores Second-Round TKO; Rodriguez, Singletary, Pugh Lose In Atlantic City!

At the Trump Taj Mahal in Atlantic City, NJ, Crofton, MD heavyweight Luther "Lights Out" Smith went the four-round distance for the first time and won a split decision over Solomon Maye of New Haven, CT.  Smith won two of the scorecards 40-36 and 39-37 while Maye won on one scorecard, 39-37.  Smith remains undefeated at 5-0, four KO's while Maye falls to 1-6-1.

Frederick, MD cruiserweight Darnell "The Unknown" Pierce scored a second-round TKO over Hafiz Montgomery of Toms River, NJ.  No word on when the bout was stopped. Pierce is now 4-0, one KO.  Montgomery falls for the first time and he is 2-1, one KO.

Also on the card, Haymarket, VA welterweight Juan "The Savior" Rodriguez lost a six-round unanimous decision to Anthony Young of Atlantic City.  No word on the scores but Rodriguez was dropped in the second round of the bout. Rodriguez's record drops to 6-5-1, five KO's while Young rises to 12-2, five KO's.

DC middleweight Jessie Singletary was stopped in the first round by Chris Thomas of Atlantic City.  Thomas landed a leaping right hand that sent Singletary to the canvas and the bout was stopped at 2:26.  Singletary is 0-2 and Thomas is 2-0, one KO.

Heavyweight Alando Pugh of DC lost by second-round TKO to "Brutal" Brendan Barrett of Little Egg Harbor, NJ.  Pugh falls to 1-8-1, one KO while Barrett is 4-0-2, four KO's.
