Stevenson To Battle McCalla For Maryland State Welterweight Title; Reeves Faces Veteran Wilson May 14 In Timonium!

A very interesting all-Baltimore bout is shaping up for the main event of the Shawstyle Promotions/Shabazz Brothers card on Saturday, May 14 at the Maryland State Fairgrounds in Timonium, MD.

James "Keep 'Em Sleepin'" Stevenson will battle Cecil McCalla in a 10-round contest for the Maryland State Welterweight title.  Both men have had difficulties as they have stepped up in competition.  The two losses for Stevenson (22-2, 15 KO's) have both come on national television against quality foes Roberto Garcia and Sammy Vasquez.  The three losses for McCalla (20-3, seven KO's) have come in his last three bouts against a former world champion and two quality contenders.

In what should be a solid cruiserweight battle, Baltimore's Travis "Seveer" Reeves steps up in competition to face veteran Garrett "The Ultimate Warrior" Wilson of Philadelphia, PA in an eight-round contest.  Reeves (11-2-2, five KO's) has scored knockouts in his last two contests including a first-round knockout of Anthony Caputo Smith on December 12 at Du Burns Arena in Baltimore.  Reeves also had the 2015 Beltway Boxing Knockout of the Year when he devastated Samer Barakat on July 9 at the Tall Cedars Hall in Parkville, MD.

Wilson (16-10-1, nine KO's) is a former USBA and NABF Cruiserweight champion who recently had a three-bout winning streak snapped in his last outing.  Wilson lost a 10-round unanimous decision to undefeated Keith Tapia on December 8 in Trenton, NJ.  Wilson made his pro debut in the Beltway area when he scored a second-round TKO over equally debuting Robert McConnell in May of 2008 in District Heights, MD.

There will also be a women's bout on this card as DC flyweight Tyrieshia "Lady Tyga" Douglas will take on Anahi "Pantera" Torres of Tlalnepantla, Mexico in an eight-round contest.  Douglas (10-1, four KO's) bounced back from suffering her first pro loss by winning a 10-round unanimous decision over Nydia Feliciano on November 12 in Cockeysville, MD.  Torres (13-13-1, two KO's) will be the most experienced foe Douglas has faced in her career.  Torres, a former WBC Youth Minimumweight champion, is coming off a six-round unanimous decision loss to Jessica Nery Plata on February 3 in Queretaro, Mexico.

A number of locals are slated to be on this card.  We already know that undefeated Baltimore super middleweight Devin Butcher (5-0, three KO's) will take on Philadelphia veteran Greg Hackett (2-15-1) in a four-round contest.  Also scheduled to be on the card are Glenn Dezurn, Patrick Harris, Seth Billups, Eric Hernandez, Tyrell Samuel and Stephon Morris.

More on this card as information comes in.
