At the Women's Olympic Trials in Memphis, TN, the four Beltway competitors faced off against each other in the first round of competition.
In the lightweight division, Tiara Brown won her opening contest with a 3-0 decision over Amelia Moore. In the middleweight bracket, Franchon Crews took a 3-0 decision over Iesha Kenney.
Brown and Crews continue in the Winner's Bracket of the tournament on Tuesday. Brown will battle Rianna Rios of Colorado Springs, CO while Crews will take on Raquel Miller of San Diego, CA.
Moore and Kenney are now in the Challenger's Bracket and will also compete today. Moore will take on Lisa Porter of Van Nuys, CA and Kenney will face Cierra Taylor of Rochester, NY.
On the first day of competition at the Men's Qualifier in Memphis, three Beltway Boxers won in the 132 Pound division. Jalonte Cole of Burke, VA won a 2-1 decision over Israel Medina of Youngsville, LA. Ebrima Jawara of Gaithersburg, MD also won in the bracket with a 2-1 decision over Antonio Levett of Minot, ND. Sippriano Zelldon of Silver Spring, MD won a 3-0 decision over Rosino Legan of Gilroy, CA.
At 141 Pounds, Dante Cox of Severn, MD lost a 3-0 decision to Christian Camarena of Pasadena, CA while Sammie Smith of Hyattsville, MD lost a tiebreaker to Sharad Smith of Hartford, CT.
In the 152 Pound bracket, Keeshawn Williams of Washington, DC won a 2-1 decision over Anthony Rodriguez of Humble, TX.
The 165 Pound bracket saw Tavon Body of Burtonsville, MD win a 3-0 decision over Christopher Clark of Ambridge, TX and Clinso Brumfield of Alexandria, VA lose by second-round stoppage to Joseph Hicks of Grand Rapids, MI.
