Guerrero Loses By First-Round TKO In Queens!

A rough night for Salisbury, MD cruiserweight Alex Guerrero on Saturday.  Guerrero was stopped in the first round by Brian Howard of Atlanta, GA at the Resorts World Casino in Queens, NY.

According to Fightnews.com,  Howard's straight right stung Guerrero halfway through round one and had him on rubbery legs. Howard landed a few more right hands to deck Guerrero, who quickly arose to his feet and took an eight-count. Guerrero was unable to recover, however, and Howard pinned him against the ropes with a follow-up barrage, forcing referee Harvey Dock to stop the contest at 1:53 of the first.

Guerrero, who is ranked number 14 in the world by the WBA and was making his DiBella Entertainment promotional debut, suffered his first defeat, dropping to 12-1, six KO's.  Howard, who had his first bout since suffering his only loss in December of 2012, is now 11-1, nine KO's.
