Tough start to the weekend for Beltway Boxers Friday at the Sands Casino Resort in Bethlehem, PA. Bowie, MD super middleweight "The King's Son" Jerry Odom suffered a third-round TKO against Samuel "The Main Event" Clarkson of Cedar Hill, TX in front of a nationally-televised (Showtime) audience.
Odom got off to a good start in the contest as he went successfully to Clarkson's body in the first round. However, Clarkson turned the tide late in the second and caught Odom with a vicious right uppercut that sent Odom to the canvas for the first time in his pro career.
Odom never recovered from the first knockdown as Clarkson dropped him twice more in the third round before the bout was stopped at 1:15.
This is Odom's second loss in his last three contests, although this loss is a lot more devastating. Odom is now 13-2, 12 KO's. Clarkson has now won five in a row and raises his record to 15-3, nine KO's.
Antoine Douglas will compete against Istvan Szili in the main event later tonight.
