Wade Wins Split Decision In Washington!

Largo, MD middleweight Dominic "Lights Out" Wade won a  10-round split decision over former world champion "King" Sam Soliman of New South Wales, Australia Friday night at the Little Creek Casino Resort in Shelton, WA in front of a nationally-televised (ShoBox) audience.

The bout was awkward and somewhat close throughout as Soliman seemed to throw himself at Wade throughout the contest.  Wade managed to knock down Soliman in the fourth round.  The punch looled more like a push as Soliman was rushing in.  However, referee Jack Reiss ruled it a knockdown.

The knockdown proved to be the difference on the scorecards as Wade won by scores of  97-92 and 95-94.  Soliman won a card by the score of 96-93.

Wade, who was ranked number 14 by the WBC and number 12 by the WBA going into the contest, remains undefeated at 18-0, 12 KO's.  Soliman's record drops to 44-13, 18 KO's.

A related ratings note:  The Beltway has three middleweights ranked among the top 15 in the world by the WBC and the WBA.  Tony Jeter has moved up to number 11 in the WBC and is number 15 in the WBA.  Antoine Douglas, who will compete in a ShoBox main event on Friday, July 17, is ranked number 14 by the WBC.

Ayi "Bruce Lee" Bruce, a super welterweight who now competes out of Silver Spring, MD, was no match for undefeated prospect Erickson "The Hammer" Lubin of Orlando, FL in the co-feature.  The native of Ghana was dropped twice before the bout was stopped at 2:05 of the first round.  Bruce is now 23-10, 15 KO's while Lubin is 11-0, eight KO's.
