Three Beltway Boxers won opening matches at the Olympic Trials Qualifier in Colorado Springs, CO on Tuesday.
Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, MD won a 3-0 decision over Tra-Kwon Pettis of Atlanta, GA in the 141-pound bracket.
At 123 pounds, Jalonte Cole of Burke, VA won a unanimous decision (3-0) over Roberto Meza of Escondido, CA.
Salisbury, MD's Nigel Fennell won his opening bout at 152 pounds with a 3-0 decision over Cruse Stewart of Cedar Rapids, IA. However, Kevin Ottley of Baltimore, MD lost in the opening round of that bracket by a 3-0 score to Abram Martinez of San Diego, CA.
Fennell returns to action today as he will take on Julian Smith of Robbins, IL. Also, Cole will battle Giezwa Hobbs of Woodbury, MN. Russell will take on Abraham Nova of Albany, NY.
Amelia Moore and Jordan Payne make their qualifier debuts today. Moore of Millersville, MD will take on Ashleigh Moore of Buzzards Bay, MA in the female 132 pound bracket while Payne of Hyattsville, MD battles Trevor Lattimore of Bridgeport, CT at 165 pounds.
