Beltway Boxers opened the card tonight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
D'Mitrius Ballard of Temple Hills, MD stopped Columbia, MD's Barry Trotter at 2:35 of the first round. According to reports, Ballard trapped Trotter along the ropes at the two-minute mark and pummeled him until the bout was stopped.
Ballard remains undefeated at 6-0, five KO's. Trotter is now 2-2, one KO.
Also, DC junior middleweight Lenwood "Mr. Composure" Dozier lost a six-round unanimous decision to undefeated Prichard Colon of Puerto Rico. Dozier was shutout 60-54 on all three cards. However, Dozier was able to extend Colon the distance for the first time in his pro career.
Dozier's record drops to 9-7-1, four KO's. Colon is now 11-0, 10 KO's.
I was surprised to see the Ballard vs Trotter fight was made, but nether the less it was two Beltway Boxers fighting on a Golden Boy card on Showtime. Lenwood Dozier put on a very tough fight against a undefeated fighter that has won all his previous fights by KO. Good job Lenwood for going the distance.
