IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson has an opponent for his Saturday, August 9 title defense at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, NY.
Peterson (32-2-1, 16 KO's) will face Edgar "El Chamaco" Santana of New York City by way of Puerto Rico in this title defense -- one of three title bouts on this card.
Santana (29-4, 20 KO's) has won his last three bouts by knockout, including a first-round stoppage of Michael Clark in his last outing on November 22 in Dover, DE for the NABA Junior Welterweight title.
The promoters of the card -- Golden Boy Promotions -- are hoping that Peterson will win his defense and that WBC and WBA Super World champion Danny Garcia will win his defense against Rod Salka on the same night. This would lead to a unification contest later in the year.
The third title bout will be for the vacant WBA Middleweight championship -- Daniel Jacobs will face Jarrod Fletcher. All three bouts will be televised by Showtime.
Any word on TV?
ReplyDeleteAlso, any chance that if both win Lamont-Garcia will be in DC?
Read the last line of the post. No word yet on whether Peterson-Garcia would be in DC.
ReplyDeleteOops, that's my bad on the last line.
