Hernandez Harrison Added to July 26 Card At Madison Square Garden!

Undefeated DC welterweight and WBC Youth Welterweight champion Dusty Hernandez Harrison has been added to the Saturday, July 26 card at Madison Square Garden in New York City.  Harrison appeared at the press conference for the event this week.

The card is headlined by Gennady Golovkin's WBA Super World Middleweight title defense against Daniel Geale.  This will be the third time that Harrison (22-0, 12 KO's) will have appeared on a Golovkin undercard.  Unlike his last appearance at MSG where he won the WBC Youth Title, Harrison will compete in the main arena and not the Theater at MSG on this occasion.

Harrison is coming off a fourth-round TKO over Roberto Valenzuela on May 17 in Chester, WVA.  No word yet on who Harrison's opponent will be.

  1. Dusty's fight will be an 8 rounder per boxrec.com

  2. I never seen a guy 22-0 still fight 8 rounders. Especially getting that kind of exposure. Showcase your skills and accept a solid 10 round Apponant. Would be nice to see if Dustys the real deal

  3. why take a chance to see if a 19 year old is the real deal? if he can get away with fighting 6 rounders and make good money. he should fight 6 instead of 8. I doubt he cares if he is the real deal or not. he probably just cares about making good money. looking at all his fights on youtube, it's obvious he is not ready for the top guys yet. you mention that you never seen a 22-0 guy fight 8 rounders. that means the kid must be calling the shots or he has strong promotions behind him. something is going on for him to have 4 fights in a row at MSG. not sure if he gets away because of popularity, ticket sales or just deep pockets, but don't hate on another because he is getting paid. Team dusty knows damn well they are not ready for the big stage yet. They actually might know they will never be ready for big fights, so they play it safe for as long as they can. I read where he was never even in the Olympic trials. Never even competed. I wish someone would have been behind Little John the way they are Dusty. He would have never took a loss so early in his career. 2 losses and you have to start all over again. Now look at him.

  4. Dusty did fight in a 10 rounder in November and go tired towards the end of the fight. His fight against Balasi should have been 8 but espn cut it to 6 because of time constraints. Building him back up with 8 rounders then a 10 rounder in the fall is the next step. People need to look more at his age of 20 then the fact that he is 22-0. His body still hasn't fully developed. Hasn't filled out his frame completely yet. It's a known fact you are stronger at 25 then 20. It's called man strength. He will develop it in a few years.

  5. When you got the right promotional team and management you don't have to step up your competition to get big exposure and pay days

  6. According to news reports, several big wigs are backing him.
Phil Ivey, Jordan Brand, Everlast, if my sources are correct, HBO has a 6 fight deal, but the deal does not include him as a main-event. I would hope that someone is not letting him waste his money. Too many local fighters wing up broke.

  7. When is this HBO deal supposed to start because he has yet to fight on HBO and is not on July 26. He has fought on non televised part of undercards put on by HBO before like he is doing again next months

  8. tabernacle said he is not on hbo, he is just on the cards. they only put him probly cuz of he sell tickets.

  12. A couple of clarifications: Harrison has no HBO deal. Gary Shaw and his camp like having Harrison on their cards.

Phil Ivey is handled by All-In Entertainment and has a financial stake with Harrison.

  13. Dusty def does not have a deal with HBO, Showtime or anyone else for that matter. Again, the only reason he gets on these cards is because of ticket sales. Gary Williams is 100% correct. Furthermore, if Gary prints something, he it is usually true. Gary, checks things out before printing them. If there is a blog that you can trust, it's Boxing Along The Beltway.

  14. That's true Dusty does sell a lot of tickets. The black race is the only race that doesn't support it's people. Check out some of the comments on the articles of the black beltway boxers and you will notice that there's always a few of our own hating.

  15. 90% of Dusty fans are black!

  16. Dusty is a average fighter at best. He ducked the open class in the DMV because he wouldn't made it out the states.

  17. He turned pro way too young! He turned pro before he was even allowed to turn open. He should have stayed in the amatuers and got a bigger signing bonus. He didn't duck the open class, he wasn't even allowed to fight in it. Either way, dumb move. He could have signed for so much more than he probably got.

  18. Haters! LMAO He's laughing all the way to the bank.

  19. Is he taking you to the bank with him?

  20. I wish Dusty great success, however every time someone says he needs to up his competition, one of his supporters or Buddy would say he's only 19 or 20 what a weak excuse if that's the excuse than he shouldn't have turn pro until he was strong enough... Because the great Wilfredo Benitez won the world title at 17 years old & this record still stands today Dusty's PuertoRico Big Brother...

  21. Fighters are only as good as the people behind them. He's undefeated, known all over, makes plenty of money, has many sponsors, owns several cars, and a home, and a loan was required for nothing. His team fully admits that he is not ready for a world title nor is he ready for a top contender. If they choose to say he is too young, so be it. The method of getting to the top is obviously working. They chose a local investor Jeff Fried who has and can get him on practically any show he wishes to. The kid may not be a world beater, but someone is making all the right moves. Most professional fighters have a day job, this kid rides his skate board through Washington DC.
He just recently became the youngest volunteer worker for Council of the District of Columbia Chair, Committee on Judiciary and Public Safety. I doubt that this would be going on without Sports Attorney Jeff Fried. I personally have taken a dozen or more photos of Dusty and I believe he succeeds in whatever he chooses to do.

  22. I agree he aint making real money, but to him its lot of money. to a successufull person like you, its nothing, but to him, he thinks hes rich. lol

  23. Why do people still say the that Dusty is young and don't have his man strength yet. They knew when they turned him pro at 17 that he will be fighting men. Every fight was against grown men and he won each fight. So please stop saying he's too young to fight stiffer competition. You can't showcase him around like he's the next champion but hide from fighters that are just as good as he is. Don't fake your way to get a money fight. Fight your way to get a big money fight. Prove that you belong by fighting good fighters and most of all stop deceiving people to make Dusty look legit when he hasn't proven anything yet. His management can't advertising Dusty like he's great because people that know boxing will see that his record doesn't show his talent. You wouldn't be able to look at Dusty's record and say he a true prospect. You can't say in one breath that you are moving him slow but let him fight at the age of 17 and know he will be fighting grown men, and in another breath showcase him on television like he's the newest welterweight sensation. Real fans understand boxing. His dad has that fatherly love but has to bite the bullet and let someone train his son so their team can get to the next level. Dusty needs to really train and learn from a trainer that's been around professional boxing. Dusty is in it too deep now to just fight on raw talent. He has to learn how to adjust during each and every fight. Dusty has what it takes but I hope he realizes that it's beyond loyalty to his dad being a trainer. Family and business can can work together to make the right decisions to further his career. I hope his Promotions noticed that his dad has taken him as far as he could but now it's time to bring someone in that can take them to the top. Pull the best out of Dusty!!!!

  24. To the anonymous person that just posted this comment. It seems like you kinda understand the boxing game, but the only thing is that the people on the outside of Dusty's team will never know what's going on with Dusty until his team discloses the information to the public about when Dusty is fighting and who his opponent will be. On the comment about if his dad should move assideas trainer....ummm that's a fine line because yes it's true dad and son relationships seem to fall apart when the fighter gets to a level of higher competition. The dad and son relationship falls back to when the son doesn't listen to the dad or takes his time doing thing when it comes to training. When someone that's not related comes in the fighter it makes more of a business move that the fighter has no choice but to train, work hard, and learn. So with saying that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. It depends on the dedication of the fighter.

  26. Dusty is ranked in two of the four major world organizations,15 by WBO, and 19 by WBC. He is ranked in 3 of the regional organizations. 8 by USBA, 11 by NABO, and 12 by NABF. Kid is only 20 years old and 22-0 with 12 ko's. Going to be fighting toughest opponent of career on July 26 at Madison Square Garden. If he passes the test on the 26th he is well on his way to stardom.

    1. Dusty deserves to be ranked in those organizations and should be fighting guys that are ranked judt like he is. The the key to stay ranked. Fight hard to stay at the top.

  27. I hope James Stevenson pulls out of June 28 card and fights Dusty at MSG on July 26th for vacant USBA title as both are ranked in top 10 at 6 and 8 respectively. Or I hope dusty fights one of the other ranked fighters for the vacant belt if he chooses not to defend his own belt on the show.

  28. I just looked at his résumé. How did this guy get ranked ranked fighting bums. At least fight a couple of prospects. Then show off your rankings.
