Shah tried to use his height and long reach to keep the shorter Quarles at bay. However, Quarles was able to figure a way inside and landed some solid overhand right hands that sent Shah to the corner. To his credit, Shah never went down and didn't seem hurt. However, Shah did not return back anything during the flurry and referee Joe Cooper stopped the contest at 2:41 of the round.
With the win, Quarles is now 11-2-1, four KO's. Shah is now 5-3, three KO's.
As we said, no post-fight wrap-up tonight. So here is a brief look at the upcoming Beltway Boxing schedule:
Monday, November 11 -- Cowboys Dance Hall in San Antonio, TX. Fernando Guerrero is the co-feature on a card televised by Fox Sports 1 and Fox Espanol.
Thursday, November 14 -- Fight Night at the Washington Hilton and Towers. Tyrieshia Douglas is scheduled on that card. We will not be attending the card due to logistical issues.
Friday, November 15 -- The Carroll County AG Center in Westminster, MD. The return of Mark "TNT" Tucker headlines this card. This will be our next stop.
Saturday, November 16 -- Estadio Ramón Tahuichi Aguilera, Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia. "The Bolivan Queen" Jennifer Salinas battles for the vacant WBF (World Boxing Federation) Super Bantamweight championship against Yolis Marrugo Franco. We'll preview this bout later this week.
Come on man. Quick stoppage by Cooper. That was absurd
ReplyDeleteYou know Joe!
ReplyDeleteWho was in Shah's corner.
Man Brandon quarles sucks. I've watched this kid fight a few times. He doesn't impress me at all. He fought a kid today that can't fight and they didn't give him a chance to fight. I've seen this kid fight . I rather watch street brawls then this kid. E
ReplyDeleteMan what silly belt was that they gave Brandon Quarles. I've seen kids at local shows get better belts. I guess a ugly belt for a no name fighter. Suites him. This kid better learn how to fight. I don't think he can fight. Dumbest Most Vulnerable fighter. Is that the belt he got.
ReplyDeleteI can accept that u think the belt is bogus but why hate on brandon. Hes a good fighter just trying to make a living. And u guys saying he sucks, compared to who? U bums talking crap on the internet? Get a life and stop hating on others accomplishments
ReplyDeleteBrandons good. But that stoppage by Joe was bogus.
ReplyDeleteNever seen a fight stopped bc someone was getting there arms and gloves slapped
ReplyDeleteDusty,Demond,Altanez fox,David Drayton are a list of fighters Brandon can't beat. Why is it hate if you see the truth. Stopped a fight with slaps. Get out of here. Its a group of fighters in the DMV he can't beat. Kids a joke.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all had Zain gotten that belt last night i wouldnt have meant anything. . . . . highly doubt any of yall actual boxers let alone been in the pro game its a cut throat sport. Brandon Quarles doesnt get the props he deserves and after a clear TKO victory over the towering Zain all yall can do is find reasons as to why it was BS. . . . . yall sound like some haters too me. . . . . . kinda like the assholes who think Pacquiao really a better boxer than Mayweather . . . . . like really? C'MON SON!!!!!
ReplyDeleteyall aint not ish! BQ DMV's biggest under rated fighter hands down!
ReplyDeleteBQ's only issue is that he in the past hasnt been able to delevier Ws with KOs. . . . two in a row now? think dude catchin a little groove! Grat fights last night!
ReplyDeleteLol. Tko assisted by Joe Coop
ReplyDeletestoppage was fair and clear no need to put either fighter into harms way like Magomed Abdusalamov was put in last week. The overhand had Shah confused
ReplyDeleteyeah fight was stopped too soon! I wouldve loved to see shah get dropped by those over hands!!!!!
ReplyDeleteLook at the pic right before coop stopped it. Nothing open to get hit.
ReplyDeleteGary...you think it was early?
ReplyDeleteI didn't have a major issue with the stoppage. Yes, Shah looked clear eyed. However, when he went to the ropes, he wasn't throwing anything back. That gave Cooper no real alternative but to stop the bout.
ReplyDeleteStyles make fights and Brandon aggressive style gave shah a hard time
ReplyDeleteMe being a local fan of boxing I have seen Quarles in a few though fights. He definitely gets my respect
ReplyDeletePs. Good stoppage Joe
Quarles deserves respect...the ref does not. 45 bucks for a bs stoppage???
ReplyDeleteQuestion what would of happened if the fight wasn't stopped ? How was the 1st two minutes going?
ReplyDeleteReading the comments and seeing the video on Facebook. Good stoppage to me shah was getting bullied. Are you guys trying to get the man killed?
ReplyDeleteMuch respect
The way I describe the fight in the original post was the first two minutes of the contest.
ReplyDeleteGary who are ur 5 fav dmv fighters pro
ReplyDeleteThat changes from year to year. But for all time it's Mark Johnson, Darryll Tyson, Sharmba Mitchell, Derrell Foley and William Joppy.
ReplyDeleteColey that is.
DeleteGary you forgot to include somebody in your list.
ReplyDeleteA lot of them deserve to be on that list -- Keith Holmes, Vincent Pettway, Andrew Council. I can't really limit to five.
ReplyDeleteThat kid that fought Yuri actually put up a good fight. He was outclassed but he fought hard. Anybody know why he was escorted out by police?
ReplyDeleteIs there a site with a video for this fight?
ReplyDeleteIs ray leonard considered a beltway boxer? If so maybe we ought to slide him in that list somewhere.
ReplyDeleteMy list is limited to those I have covered over the last 30 years.
