Springfield VA Card Coming Together!

The Saturday, October 5 Sugar Han Promotions card to be held at the ABC Sports Complex in Springfield,VA is coming together.

Todd "White Lightning" Wilson will headline the card in his first contest as a welterweight when he faces veteran Reggie "Two-Gun" Nash of Grand Rapids, MI in a four-round contest.  Wilson (14-0, four KO's) is trying out the welterweight waters in this contest but there is no guarantee he will stay there. Nash (10-34-1, two KO's) will be looking to break a seven-bout losing streak.  Included in that streak was a first-round KO loss to Dusty Hernandez Harrison in July of 2012.

The co-feature will be a six-round middleweight contest featuring undefeated Antoine "Action" Douglas of Burke, VA against Marcus Brooks of Fort Benning, GA.  Douglas (9-0, six KO's) is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over Edgar Perez on August 23 in Verona, NY.  Brooks (7-15, three KO's) lost a four-round unanimous decision to Antowyan Aikens on the same night in Dover, DE.

Springfield, VA junior welterweight Edgar "The Tiger" Torres returns to action for the first time since December of 2012 when he faces the debuting Greg Thomas of Philadelphia, PA.  Torres (3-0-1, two KO's) has not fought since winning a four-round majority decision over Tommy Ayers, Jr. on December 1 in Winchester, VA.

In a battle of debuting middleweights Shawn Carter of Springfield will take on Gamikey Woods of North Carolina.

Also on the card, undefeated Hollywood, CA welterweight Sukhrab Shidaev (4-0, four KO's) will battle Winston-Salem, NC's Kevin "Dog Pound" Carter (11-68-1, three KO's) in a six-round contest.  Shidaev, a native of Grozny, Russia, is coming off a third-round TKO over Robert Hill on July 6 in Leyton, UT.  Carter will be looking to break a 10-bout losing streak.

Undefeated Norfolk, VA heavyweight Dorsett Barnwell (10-0, five KO's) is also scheduled to be on the card against an opponent still to be determined.  Barnwell last fought on August 23 and won by third-round TKO over Marlon Hayes in Verona, NY.

DC heavyweight Danny Kelly was originally slated to be on the card but he will not participate.

  1. Is Gervonta Davis still on the card?

  2. Davis is now fighting October 17 in Pennsylvania because his opponent for the 5th pulled out. Also why isn't Todd fighting someone with at least a winning record. At 14-0 he should challenge himself a little instead of fighting such a bum

  3. Davis opponent didn't pull out, he was fully ready to fight. Actually still is.

  4. Thats not what he said. His exact words in a Facebook post yesterday were "I'm not fighting Oct 5 because the dude pulled out, I will be fighting Oct 17 in Pennsylvania.. Sorry to u guys that was coming to see me fight."

  8. Wilson would bring a crowd if he fought someone who wasn't such a bum.

  12. Marquise Pierce is very upset because Davis pulled out of fight. Scared shitless! Brian "Great Matchmaker" made the damn fight. Marquise Pierce is ready and was always ready. Davis wanted to fight a guy that was 1-9. Davis knew he was going to lose this one.
Marquise Pierce has had great sparring with Rasean Warren and he is ready as ever.

  13. Yetra, Davis didn't pull out the fight either, there was a falling out between the promoter and myself with the end result being that fight was being taken off the show. Both guys were eager and anxious to fight one another. Coincidently they both are now fighting on the same card on 10/17 against different opponents

  14. Todd Wilson is coming off a long layoff due to injuries and surgery. He came to my gym last Sunday and is fit, focused, and ready to move forward in his boxing career. Thanks to all that have helped Todd in coaching, sparring, conditioning, and supporting.

  15. Davis will fight him on the 25th of October if he wants it!

  16. Davis should focus on pushing forward with his career. Wilson will not be taking any chances at all. he will build his record like he has benn off bums and hope he doesnt get cought again. Then cash in his record for a good payday one day. Why would he fight Davis? Local guy with an average following at best and is probably a much better technician then wilson. I dont see the logic in that for wilson. Not eending Wilson at all simply stating facts. Business is business and getting padded record is THE business now days. VA,MD,DC doesnt matter which location its just business.
