Four members of the DC Region Golden Gloves team have advanced at the National Golden Gloves Tournament of Champions in Salt Lake City, UT.
Gary Antonio Russell and Lamont Roach, Jr. won their second bouts of the tournament. Russell advanced to the quarterfinals of the 123-Pound division with a decision over Alex Roman of Florida. Roach moved into the quarters of the 132-Pound class by decision over Jousce Gonzalez of California.
Also, Darnell Price, II from Camp Lejeune, NC moved into the 201-Pound final eight with a win over Jamel Burnside of Florida.
DC's Kareem Martin won his first bout at 152 pounds with a decision over Vernon Brown of Chicago.
Lawrence Singh, a late addition to the DC Region team at 114 pounds, lost to Javier Padilla of California. Chris Laws, a novice boxer placed on the DC squad, lost his bout at 201+ pounds falling to Marion Steen of Cleveland, OH.
Antonio Russell is going to be à really good Pro fighter and cograts to all the other fighter from the DMV.
