Gary Antonio Russell and Lamont Roach, Jr. will vie for National Golden Gloves titles tonight in Salt Lake City, UT.
Russell advanced to the championship in the 123-pound division with a decision win over Misael Reyes of Kansas City. Russell will face Ja'Rico O'Quinn of Detroit in the finals and will try to become the third member of the Russell Family to win a national Golden Gloves title (Gary Jr. in 2005, Allen in 2010).
Roach moved into the 132-pound title bout with a decision victory over Cresendo Ramos of Texas. Roach will battle Maliek Montgomery of Knoxville in the championship round.
DC's Kareem Martin lost in the semis of the 152 pound division, dropping a decision to Erickson Lubin of Florida while Darnell Price II of Camp Lejeune, NC fell by RSC to Joshua Temple of St. Louis in the 201 pound class.
Also, Marquis Moore, representing the Colorado-New Mexico region, is in the finals of the 165-pound division and will face Kyrone Davis of Pennsylvania. Moore is originally from Fort Washington, MD but fights out of Fort Carson, CO where he is stationed in the Army.
