Early results from Spokane, WA and the USA Boxing National Championships. Upper Marlboro, MD's Lamont Roach, Jr. advanced to the next round of the Youth Men's 132 Pound Division by winning a 3-0 decision over Eder Carrillo of Woodland, CA.
However, the all-Beltway final we hoped for in that weight class will not happen. Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, MD lost a 3-0 decision to Genaro Gamez of San Diego, CA.
In the 132 Pound Elite Women's division, Tiara Brown of Hyattsville, MD moved into the next round by winning a 3-0 decision over Kristin Carlson of Chicago, IL. This is a loaded division with US Olympian Queen Underwood, and noted boxer Mikaela Meyer still in the competition.
