In the highly-anticipated amateur bout of the night, former National Golden Gloves champion Michael Reed defeated Yuri Polischuk in what was a very tough battle on the Jeter Promotions card at Club One Fitness in Millersville, MD.
We knew going into the bout that this would be the final amateur battle for Reed and he will make his pro debut on the Saturday, March 2 Keystone Boxing card at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD. Reed gives us his thoughts on that in this interview.
What we did not know going into the bout was that this was also the amateur swan song for Polischuk, who will make his entry into the pro ranks on Friday, March 15 on a card at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, FL.
In other featured bouts on the card, Gary Antoine Russell scored a vicious RSC-1 in his bout while Lamont Roach, Jr. was also victorious in his contest by decision.
My hats off to Tony Jeter and another great show that was packed. There was not a bad seat in the house. Hopefully you will do another soon. Also Russell was awsome with the KO. Actually, he is the one that should have turned pro long ago. He will one day be the champ. Michael Reed did what he had to against Yurii in an extremely close bout. Reed seemed the much faster one and Yurii seemed the more powerful fighter.Could have flipped a coin. Yurii is more fitted for the professionals and Reed should stick around for 2016.
ReplyDeleteReed should be the one fighting at the Hard Rock Cafe in Hollywood, Fl. Why did Polischuck get the big signing? Reed also had a decent amateur career. He's deserves much more than a $400 dollar fight at Rosecroft. Nothing against Polischuck, but he's not even an American and he winds up with the big pro-debut at a famous venue.
ReplyDeleteRawhide will take Yuri to the top! Look what he has already done with LA Boxing. Need I say more.
ReplyDeleteReed almost stopped Yuri. YurI was game but Reed was just too much for him.
ReplyDeleteok Rawhide hater. Give the man somecredit. Those pitty-pater punches did no damage at all. look at the 2nd. round. Reed needs to turn his punches over correctly. Yurii knocked Raymond in the gym cold with a hook. Slapping dont count. almost - lmfao
ReplyDeleteNo video?
ReplyDeletePolischuk and Reed are excellent fighters will who both do well as Pro's.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't matter the name - LA Boxing, UFC Gym, DC Boxing...there's only one Rawhide Boxing Organization who will be making champions in the WBO, IBF, WBA.
What does nationality have to do with signing? That's just ignorant especially in the international DC community. Next time think before typing and sign in to blog.
Mike Reed is the man. I watched him and Ballard come up together. They always represent the DMV and put that work in at National tournaments.
ReplyDeleteYes he is! And he beat Ballard atleast 6 times in the amateurs.
ReplyDeleteHey Brian, Partner in LA Boxing, what the hell are talking about nationality? I'm reading all comments and I seen nothing about such. Do you have a guilty concience or something?
ReplyDeleteGreat fight by Mike Reed. But I think that Rusell kid should have gotten outstanding boxer instead of Reed. He almost killed that kid What a KO
ReplyDeleteRusell should have received the award because thr reed fighs to close to call.Rusell completely outclass his guy til the end.
ReplyDeleteRussell beat Reed 3 or 4 times in the National GG and the US Nationals, but both are very good boxers. You may veiw on youtube.com
ReplyDeleteThat's the wrong Russell, Gina. Antoine Russell never fought Reed in the Golden Gloves or the Nationals.
ReplyDeleteIt was in fact, Allen Russell, Antoine's older brother who faced Reed at 147 pounds. I saw their bouts in the local Golden Gloves and they were great ones.
Reed also didn't battle Ballard unless it was when they were very young. Ballard was at 165 as an amateur for most of that time.
Mike fight was close? I dont know what fight yall was watching he beat Yuri around the ring the whole fight basically
ReplyDelete2-1 Russell up 1 love watching them to fight each other they be getting it in. We're is Russell?
ReplyDeleteRussell at Golden Coral eating.
ReplyDeleteGreat show Tony. Thanks to the boxers for coming out.
ReplyDeleteCoach Herb
Im being serious Who is Rawhide?
ReplyDeleteI watched these fights and to me Yuri was the aggressor and stronger fighter...it was close but thought Yuri edged him. The fight between Luwan and Russell was similar in that Luwan was the aggressor and was easily ahead and just got caught...had he not , he would have won on points. Luwans trainer Randolph Kennedy had his boy ready and he just got caught..i heard he had beaten Russell before and I would pay to see a rubber match.
