Five champions were crowned in the Junior Division as the 2013 Washington Golden Gloves got underway Saturday night at the Sugar Ray Leonard Boxing Center in Palmer Park, MD.
Donald Ford of Kenilworth won over Daylnn Jones of Headbangers to capture the 10 years, 75 Pounds title. Ford's gymmate Lamont Tate won the 9-10, 80 Pounds over Jalil Hackett of Enigma.
In the 10-11, 100 Pounds division, Edwin Angel of Keystone captured the title with a win over Keith Bagwell, Jr. of Charm City.
One champion was crowned via walkover. Ervin Canlas of Keystone is the champ at 11 years, 70 pounds. Also, Stacey Selby of Langdon won the title at 11 years, 75 pounds by injury walkover when his opponent, Khalil Phillips of Keystone, broke his thumb two days before the competition.

10, 70 Pounds: Kesean Bagwell (Charm City) over Maximas Garland (Headbangers)
9, 75 Pounds: Lawrence Malcolm (Enigma) over Santino Saunders (Hillcrest)
11-12, 80 Pounds: Chamar Flowers (Headbangers) wins by walkover.
In the Novice Division:
132 Pounds: Jefri Gutierez (Laurel) over Quanell Robinson (Hillcrest)
141 Pounds: Jalil Hunter (Headbangers) RSC-1 over Daniel Scanlan (Black Belt Academy)
141 Pounds: Mikhail Kozlov (LA Boxing) over Jose Santos (First Class)
152 Pounds: Evqueny Metchenov (Laurel) over Alonzo Thompson (Cherry Lane)
Action continues at the Golden Gloves on Saturday, March 2 at the Sugar Ray Leonard Center beginning at 7:30 PM.
One other note: Less than 24 hours after his big win over Kendall Holt, IBF Junior Welterweight champion Lamont Peterson was on hand to give out awards during tonight's proceedings and cheer on the boxers.
