Baltimore welterweight James "Keep 'Em Sleepin'" Stevenson remained undefeated tonight at the Winchester Sportsplex in Winchester, VA with a six-round unanimous decision over "The White Tiger" Angel Rios of the Bronx, NY. According to Alec Kohut of MaxBoxing.com, Stevenson won by shutout on all three cards, 60-54. Stevenson is now 17-0, 11 KO's while Rios falls to 9-15, six KO's and maintains his streak of having never been stopped.
Stuarts Draft, VA junior welterweight Richie "The Rock" Andrews won by second-round TKO over Harlem, NY's Curtis Morton when Morton hurt his arm while throwing a punch when the two were in a clinch. Morton could not continue. Andrews is now 5-2-3, two KO's while Morton is now 1-3-2.
Winchester light heavyweight Dan Shull lost a fourth-round TKO to undefeated Trevor McCumby of Glendale, AZ. McCumby dropped Shull four times en route to the win. Shull is 3-18-1, one KO while McCumby is 8-0, eight KO's.
Stevenson NEEDS to start fighting better opposition. The guy is actually good but he's not learning anything by fighting recycled trash
ReplyDeleteAnother brilliant mind showing how he knows nothing about developing a fighter. James is being moved just right and that is why he is 17-0. And the further stupidity is that whomever wrote this comment knows nothing about Angel Rios and what he brings to a fight and how it was a consistently good choice for James Stevenson.
ReplyDeleteAny update on the amateur card that recently too place in DuBurns? Crowd size, action, etc.
ReplyDeleteI gotta agree with Anonomous #1. It's time for Pete to step up.
ReplyDeleteHave not heard anything from the amateur card in Baltimore.
ReplyDeletewhy would he step it up. he is doing just fine. he is 17-0, he must be doing something right. you pricks don't know how boxing works. look at the other locals who have stepped it up and now have a loss on their records, and have become oppenants. James Stevenson no what he's capable of doing. He is being very smart. You pricks don't have a clue. It puts no more money in his pockets if he steps it up right now. Unless it's a TV fight, I'd keep doing his way. You damn pricks want to make me vomit.
ReplyDeleteI Love the way James Stevenson fights. There is no harm in moving him the way they are moving him. However after another " bang the rust off" fight; James would, could, should and can be in position for a TV type of fight.
ReplyDelete17-0 is a great record, he is a very marketable and likable fighter. I will assume there has been calls in the past for them but there wasn't a need to rush.
Now might be the time to get the exposure that a fighter with his ability deserves.
If he stays active he can make some noise
ReplyDeleteBrian your whole gig in boxing is to have everybody fight bumbs.
ReplyDeleteWhy?
Some of these guys in Texas and such fight tough guys off-tv. Yeah its a business and there isnt money right now, but you'll never get better fighting nobodies. We've seen some beltway guys step up and even face each other on this scene.
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't think anything of Stevenson, I wouldn't care. He's a good fighter but man he needs to keep it moving.
Really did u not see venroy July against Justin howes or richie Andrews against Harold Parker? I commend on how Stevenson is being moved and you bash me, nice I love living rent free
ReplyDeleteI agree he need to stop he's game up in stop fighting guys with losing records.all his fights has been with fighters with losing records.maybe he can get a nice pay day or a tv fight if he fight someone with a winning record with at least 15win fighter but I put that or his manager he is holding him back.he is not getting younger step the game up
ReplyDeleteJames is a ok fighter he fight trash all his fights let the man go if you are not going to let him box. Good fighter......PLEASEEEEEEE NOBODY WANTS TO SEE HIM NO MORE WHEN HE Fight The main event Everybody leaves
