Salisbury, MD middleweight Fernando Guerrero will return to action on Saturday, November 3 when he takes on veteran and former world title challenger Juan Carlos (J.C.) Candelo at the Humble Civic Center in Humble, TX. The 10-round bout will be televised by Fox Sports Net and Fox Deportes.
Guerrero (24-1, 18 KO's) is coming off a 10-round unanimous decision win over Jose Medina on July 14 in Las Vegas, NV. Guerrero has won three straight since his only loss to Grady Brewer in June of 2011 in Austin, TX.
Candelo (32-11-4, 21 KO's) once challenged Winky Wright for the IBF Junior Middleweight title in 2003 and lost a 12-round unanimous decision. Candelo, a native of Colombia who now fights out of Baytown, TX, is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision over Raul Casarez on March 17 in Pharr, TX.
Another Beltway Boxer is slated to be on this card. Undefeated Alexandria, VA super featherweight Jerren "Hardknocks" Cochran (6-0, three KO's) will battle veteran Julio Valadez (4-22-1) in a four-round bout. Cochran, who is originally from Houston, TX, won a six-round unanimous decision over David Green on October 4 in Houston. Valadez is from San Antonio, TX and will be trying to break a 13-bout losing streak.
Is Fernando still affiliated with Barry Hunter and Head Bangers? What's up with Dominic Wade? I though those two fighters were on the rise together.
ReplyDeleteNo, Fernando is not with Hunter. He has been training on the west coast recently. As far as Wade, I'm not sure what is going on with him.
