Long-time Beltway Boxing fans may remember the successful amateur boxing shows that Max Kisner put on in the 80's. (I was not even aware of those -- thanks to a reader who pointed that fact out) Danny Kisner used to promote exciting shows along the Baltimore section of the region in the 1990's. Well, it looks like the promoting genes, like the boxing genes before them, have been passed down. Kisner's son, "Slick" Nick Kisner, will make his debut as a promoter (Slick Nick Promotions) on Saturday, August 25 with an amateur boxing card at the Maryland Sportsplex in Millersville, MD.
Scheduled to appear on the card are Stan Williamson against Brian Yakel and Omar Barnes battles Jamal Beyer. There will be a number of other bouts on the card. The doors will open at 5:30 PM and the card begins at 6:30 PM. Tickets are $35 and $55.
Kisner is slated to spend a lot of time in Millersville in the next few months. Still active as a pro boxer (10-0-1, five KO's), Kisner is slated to compete on a Jeter Promotions card on Saturday, September 22 just down the street from the Sportsplex at Club One Fitness. Then, Kisner is scheduled to promote another amateur show at the Sportsplex in October.
