Amateur Boxing Card Involved in 'Cease Fire' Event August 25!

There will be a very noteworthy event taking place on Saturday, August 25th at the Upshur Recreation Center located at 14th and Arkansas Avenue in Northwest Washington.  This is the fifth annual Cease Fire: Don't Smoke the Brothers and Sisters cookout and amateur boxing card.  The free event will begin at noon and go until 8:30 PM.  For those who want to see the boxing card, that will begin at 3 PM.

Those participating in the boxing card should attend the weigh-in at 10 AM at the Cease Fire Headquarters at 4708 14th Street, NW. 

Along with the boxing card, there will be a cookout with free food as well as a concert featuring EU (with Sugar Bear), Wisdom Speeks, Jett Black DC and other performers.  Most importantly, the event will call for a six-month moratorium to stop the killing in our community.

This event is being put on by the Cease Fire organization headed by Al-Malik Farrakhan in connection with Universal Madness and the UMAR Sports and Learning Center of DC.
