August 4 DC Card Updated!

The Babie Girl Productions card on Saturday, August 4 at the Renaissance Hotel in DC has been updated.  There are four local pro debuts on this card and one for a boxer from nearby Newport News, VA and they all have matchups now.

Flyweight Tyrieshia "Baby Girl" Douglas of DC will be taking on the equally-debuting Ashley Langston of Wilson, NC.  DC heavyweight Danny Kelly begins his pro career against Donnie Crawford of Winchester, VA (1-5-1, one KO).  DC welterweight and former National Golden Gloves champion David "Day-Day" Grayton will take on Wilson, NC's Gregory Joyner (0-2)  Also, Gregory Newby, a light heavyweight from DC, will battle Jadell Wells of Canton, OH (0-4).

In another pro debut, Newport News, VA heavyweight Jerry Forrest will take on Jeremiah Williams of Cincinnati, OH (1-8).

Also on the card, White Plains, MD lightweight Terron "The Kid" Grant (2-0, one KO) looks to stay undefeated when he takes on David Warren Huffman of Akron, OH (0-8) in a four-round contest.  Huffman was in DC on March 10 and lost a four-round unanimous decision to Renaldo Gaines.  In another female contest,  DC heavyweight Kaelon Hollon (2-0) battles in a four-round rematch with Kasondra Hardnett of Philadelphia, PA (1-4).  Hollon won the first bout by majority decision on the March 10 card at the Washington Convention Center.

The main event, we've been told, is firmed up but we are waiting for confirmation on the opponent for Capitol Heights, MD light heavyweight Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan.  We do know that the opponent will not be Dhafir Smith.  The co-feature will have two veteran heavyweights from North Carolina -- Donnell "The Real Touch of Sleep" Holmes of Ivanhoe (33-2-2, 29 KO's) matches up against Wilson's Maurice Winslow (3-16-1, three KO's).

  1. This is crazy. All the opponents have a total of what, 2-50. Anybody can make these pro debuts. How can you get respect by beating up a bum?

  4. Saw Jerry Forrest and Danny Kelly fight in Waldorf a few years ago in the regional Golden Gloves. It was a great fight, with Forrest winning a decision. Maybe they'll eventually fight as pros. Both of them have the potential to be good pros.

  5. Maybe they will eventually fight as pros?
That doesn't matter now ,what matters now is That bald guy from wilson North Carolina is bringing a truck load of guys off of the street and calling them pro fighters.
It'sw good to see somebody promoting but C-Mon man, Atleast one or two people have to fight.
This really is a discrace of a boxing show

  6. the Skip Crumpler's of the world are vital to the ebb and flow of boxing, he has all levels of fighters that can meet most of promoters needs.

He got guys you need for an up start prospect. Unless you are an Olympian or World Amateur champion you should be fighting guys that Skip and othes can provide..

  19. Unless something has happened in the last 48 hours, Kelly and Grayton are still on the card. Their opponents are set and they will be there Saturday. I will know more by the end of the day -- if there is any more to know.

  20. What is the point of putting Harold Parker and David Grayton against one another so soon? Parker has two pro bouts, Grayton is going into his pro debut. A gym war at this point means absolutely nothing.

Let's wait until they have established their careers before we even think about this one.

  21. Gary I was just gonna chime in on that nonsense!

Harold won't be fighting Dayday anytme soon. Harold has his fight the 25th at the DC Covention Center already signed and sealed.

Like Digital said gym wars do nothing for both guys! Why don't we develop our local talent first before we get them knocking of each other in 4 rounders!

Both guys are really good! Lets focus on developing these guys instead of starting an Internet Fantasy Boxing League

See you all at the DC Convention Center on the 25th!!!!

  29. Day do not go there. There's no need. It's low levels, come on most of the ugly comments are anonymous!

This is your first pro-fight, and more to come.... You have plenty of supporters and that's all you need. FORGET ABOUT THE HATERS!

Continue to focus. It's nothing but the enemy!

  30. Focus Day-Day!!!

  31. Day Day,

You have a fight Saturday, these people have time to focus!

You have always be a great fighter, and PROVED YOURSELF plenty of times!

No need for back and forth comments on the internet.

When you have HATERS, You must be doing something right!

Where they do that at... THAT'S DEAD!!(in my Day Day voice)

  32. I wonder if former boxers like Keith Holmes, William Joppy, Andrew Council and others hated on each other during the start of their careers. If so I never heard about it.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I can now confirm that both Kelly and Grayton will be indeed fighting Saturday night.

    ReplyDelete
  34. To answer the last comment, it was respectful but there definitely was a rivalry. Holmes and Joppy defended their titles on the same card twice -- once at the Show Place Arena and another time at the Verizon Center. There were press conferences to try and pump up a prospective bout between the two, but it never happen.

Some things were said especially harking back to when the two sparred against one another, but there was no malicious talk, no name calling. Both men did their best to act in a professional manner and they did so.

Council was also very professional in the days leading up to both bouts against Holmes. He never faced Joppy in the pros.

  35. Thanks Gary, that's how all I'll hometown boxers should act toward each other. It should be about helping each other reach their highest potential.

Fella lets start working together in the gym and not against one another in the streets. That's how many great fighter are lost.
