Beltway Boxers Lose In Newark And El Paso!

A number of Beltway Boxers were involved in some high-profile cards on Saturday.  Unfortunately, none of those boxers fared too well.

There were two Beltway-based Boxers on the Tomasz Adamek-Eddie Chambers card at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.  Middleweight and Montgomery, AL resident John "No Mercy" Mackey, who was born in DC and is trained by local boxing legend Han Kim, lost a six-round unanimous decision to undefeated hometown boxer John "The Apollo Kid" Thompson.  Mackey is now 13-7-3, six KO's.  Thompson is now 9-0, three KO's.

Also on the card, Cambridge, MD junior welterweight Dontre "Pound For Pound" King was stopped in the fourth round by Jose Peralta Alejo of Jersey City, NJ.  King was knocked down twice in the bout before the contest was halted at 2:28 of the fourth.  King has lost his last two bouts by fourth-round stoppages and is now 6-11-2, two KO's.  Alejo is now 9-1, five KO's.

At Sun Bowl Stadium in El Paso, TX, former world title challenger Daniel "The Prophet" Attah of DC lost a 10-round unanimous decision to IBF Lightweight champion Miguel "Titere" Vasquez of Guadalajara, MX in a non-title contest.  Attah (26-11-1, nine KO's) lost by shutout (100-90) on all three judge's scorecards.  Attah has lost four in a row.  Vasquez is 31-3, 13 KO's.
