During the evening session of the Junior Olympic National Championships in Mobile, AL,three more Beltway Boxers advanced to tomorrow's semi-finals. In the 95-pound bracket, Keeshawn Williams of DC won an 18-12 decision over Desmond Jarmon II of Cincinnati, OH. Malik Hawkins of Baltimore, MD won a 17-6 decision over Alexis Saenz of Chicago, IL in the 145-pound bracket. Also, Jason Bell of District Heights, MD won his bout in the 165-pound division with a 29-13 decision over Alejandro Larrando of Prescott, AZ.
However, three locals lost in this session as well. Gary Antuanne Russell of Capitol Heights, MD lost his bout at 119 pounds by a 25-15 decision to Efren Lopez of Fresno, CA. At 101 pounds, Demetrius Young of Bowie, MD fell to Nico Hernandez of Wichita, KS by a 29-8 decision. Also, Kareem Martin of Clinton, MD lost a razor-thin 7-6 decision to John Williams of Baton Rouge, LA in the 145-pound division.
