Undefeated DC weltwerweight "The Beltway Boricua" Dusty Harrison will be in a main event bout for the first time in his young pro career on Saturday, March 10 at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in DC.
The 17-year-old Harrison (3-0, one KO) will battle debuting Maryland boxer Josh Rupard in the four-round feature bout. Harrison scored his first pro knockout on the "Capital Showdown" card on December 10th at the Convention Center when he stopped Terrell Davis.
Others slated to be on the card will be the returning DC lightweight Ty Barnett (18-2-1, 12 KO's) who will be fighting in DC for the first time since May of 2007.
Junior middleweight Ivan Ziglar (4-2-1, one KO) is now fighting out of DC and he will make an appearance on this card as will heavyweight Abodurin "Big Bo" Akinyanju (4-2, three KO's) and debuting heavyweight Zakki Scott.
I like the new name! I think this will add to his following, Boricua's are very proud of where they come from and support each other to the max.. GO DUSTY!
ReplyDeleteI can't claim credit for the new nickname. A California writer named Ryan Maquianana interviewed him and came up with his name.
ReplyDeleteRyan's blog the Mag Down has been one of the links on my page.

ReplyDelete"Beltway Boricua"??? and who lets a writer give them a name? C'mon Team Dusty.
ReplyDeleteBTW...names don't "add to his following" the fact that he is who he is and is a good kid does, not some cheezy name from a writer who knew him for 10 minutes.

ReplyDeletePromoters are just using this young man because he sells tickets. Would they let him fight back to back fights at The Convention Center if he was unknown. I think he should stay in Memphis like the rest of the Dc fighters. Memphis has did a wonderful job with those young men. Look at Fernando, Lamant, Anthony, etc... Take my advice Dust, go back to Memphis where you came from.

ReplyDeleteDust Mops
ReplyDeleteSynthetic Fiber Dust Mop - Dust is collected and retained by static cling and the unique twisted yarn in the Synergy dust mop. Looped end construction prevents fraying and gives better pickup of soil. The mops don't have to be treated so they don't add to the oil in wash water effluent that needs special treatment.
The mops are made with tough polyester backing that lasts longer and doesn't shrink. Synergy mops offer the look and performance of cotton mops with the advantages of synthetic yarn - the best combination of performance
A feather duster is an implement used for cleaning. It consists typically of a wooden-dowel handle and feathers from either the male or female ostrich bird that are wound onto the handle by a wrapped wire. Dusters vary in size by are most often between 14" and 32" in total length. Some dusters have a retractable casing instead of a dowel handle. These dusters are typically used by rack-jobbers and truck drivers who need to dust store shelves, and like to retract the feathers into the handle to avoid damage.
ReplyDeleteFeather dusters are effective in dusting tight areas, or areas where there are a lot of odds and ends to dust around. The individual feathers are able to penetrate through the knick-knacks and pull the dust out of the area without disturbing items. On large open surfaces or walls, or in trying to get spider webs in the ceiling, either a feather duster or other dusters like lambswool or synthetic dusters will work.
You'll some crazy MOTHER#@%&^*$!
ReplyDeleteDust-Off is a brand of dust cleaner (refrigerant-based propellant cleaner, which is not compressed air and incorrectly called "canned air") containing difluoroethane; it is used to remove particulates and dust from computers and electronic equipment. Dust-Off products are used to remove dust, debris, fingerprints, and smudges from hard to reach areas of keyboards, screens, and other components of electronic equipment. The Dust-Off brand also encompasses a line of electronics and home office cleaning supplies, including LCD/Plasma screen sprays, microfiber cleaning cloths, and the Dust-Off Screen Shammy. Dust-Off is manufactured by Falcon Safety Products. The compressed gas duster product has also gained attention as it has been abused as an inhalant by teenagers, as seen in the movie Thirteen. A warning email has been circulated by Jeff Williams, a police officer in Cleveland, whose son, Kyle, died after inhaling Dust-Off in Painesville Township, Ohio. [1]
ReplyDeleteFalcon has now added a bitterant to the product to deter inhalation. Though a bitterant has been added, many people still inhale the product to get a quick high.
Fairbank's Gold Dust Washing Powder - The Many Purpose Cleaner. The N. K. Fairbanks Soap Company produced numerous types of soap and cleaning products. The business started in 1897 and eventually folded in the 1930's. The Gold Dust products were represented by the Gold Dust Twins, two African-American children surrounded by gold coins. The orange box with the universally recognized twins practically jumped off the shelf. In fact the twins were one of the best known trademarks of the 19th century. Let the Twins Do Your Work was the tag line. The back of the box shows the twins tackling several household chores as well as a list of 34 cleaning jobs made easier by using Gold Dust. There is still a small amount of powder in the box. The product was distributed by Lever Brothers Company. The box measures 6" x 9" x 3" Net weight 2 lb. 4 oz. (Stock number 003GoldDust) $35.00 SOLD

ReplyDeleteDust Storm on the Loose!
ReplyDeleteDust storms don't just happen in the middle of the desert. They happen in any dry area where loose dirt can easily be picked up. Grains of sand tossed into the air by the wind usually fall back down to the ground after a few hours. Smaller bits of particles stay in the air for a week or longer and can be blown thousands of miles away. Dust from the Sahara desert is always blown across the Atlantic causing bright red sunrises and sunsets in Miami. The dust doesn't stop there. It keeps traveling as far as the Caribbean and the Amazon basin.
A dust storm is a strong, violent wind that carries fine particles like silt, clay, dust and other materials for long distances. The fine particles swirl around in the air during the storm. The scary thing about a dust storm is that they can spread over hundreds of miles and rise over 10,000 feet (305 meters) - well over the height of a telephone pole. They also have wind speeds of at least 25 miles per hour (40 kilometers). Not strong enough to blow the feathers off a chicken but still something worth avoiding.

I see that Camacho Jr. is on this card. who is he fighting? Hopefully Jessie Nicklow.

Kid needs to move to CA. It's the boxing capital and thats were all boxers are now flocking to. All the sparring you could ask for and they have fights 3 times a week in San Jose alone. Washington DC has nothing to offer him, but a life of crime.
ReplyDeleteuhave no idea what u r talking about. he gets paid in dc much more than any fight in california. dc is a fight town and is making a big comeback. look at what va does all the time. dc is going to do the same. md will never do good until a new boxing commisissioner is elected. the belmont stakes failed because of md's boxing commision and jake the snake had invested so much money in boxing only to be cursed by commissioner. hopefully u guys get a new one soon. a young vibrite boxing lover like Cecil Williams would get the ball rolling.
ReplyDeleteWhy is Dusty trainging in Va? Whose he sparring with? He is not fighting at Patriot center on feb 11th. right???
ReplyDeleteCW:
ReplyDeleteA new MD boxing commissioner may want to know that the Belmont Stakes would not be affected by Maryland because the race is not held in Maryland. I hope you meant to say the Preakness Stakes.
CW has been cracked in the head to many times! Belmont Stakes-LMAO I must admit though, I never thought about it until you pointed it out. I do love this site. People from all walks of life visit BATB on a daily basis. Boxers, Promoters, Fans, Gays, Fighters, etc...

ReplyDeleteScrew you and Dusty!
ReplyDeleteim sure the kids feeling are hurt. cw u r so mean. goofball
ReplyDeleteDusty should have stayed in the amateurs. He will regret it sitting home watching the 2012 Olympics. Plenty young ones have did what he is doing now, but how many 17 years olds can say the medaled in the olympics. Not sure how old Sugar Ray was, but look at him now, he still makes money not even boxing. Dumb move on Team Dusty.
ReplyDeleteFirst of all, the games are nothing like they used to be. Hardly no coverage at all. I will not name names, but there are so many who did get a medal and they are broke today. I think he made the correct decision by turning professional.
ReplyDeletethe amateurs aren't what they are now compared to what they used to be when sugar ray was on the team, in 1976. alot changes in almost 40 years. You're gonna feel real dumb when we all watch the US team get whooped becasue the amateur ranks aren't all that compared to the rest of the world.
ReplyDeleteDusty Harrison, 17, of 3515 Indian Drive in Dalton has been absent from the program since February 8, 2011. Arrest warrants have been issued for all four individuals for absconding from the program. Pictures of all three individuals are included below.
ReplyDeleteAccording to the program’s website, the Conasauga Judicial Circuit’s Drug Court Program began in February, 2002 and provides the opportunity for drug treatment under the supervision of the Conasauga Circuit Superior Court. The purpose of the program is to reduce repeat drug-related offenses by creating the opportunity for recovery from chemical addiction. Candidates for the program enter a guilty plea to their current charges and receive a probation sentence, part of which is served in attending and successfully completing the Program. Participants who are eligible for “first offender” status and successfully complete the probated sentence will not have a felony conviction on their record.
Tori Nelson has just been added to the March 10th. boxing even at the Washington Convention Center. I am not sure if her belt will be at stake, but I do know she is fighting on card.

She won an International WBC Middleweight title belt in late July 2011 and hopes to go on to winning the WBA Middleweight belt in 2012. But only with sponsorship assistance... ReplyDeleteGood luck to Tori Nelson but this thread has nothin to do with her. Anyways, is that dedication or just pure stupidness to work THREEE MINIMUM WAGE JOBS!!! WTF!!! Do the math retard, who would do something stupid like that. Tori should invest her time into education so she can get a good job, not some corrupt sport like boxing where women don't make much money anyways. I appreciate your dedication, but you got kids man, your dedication is in the wrong spot. Take yo ass to school so you dont' have to work minimum wage jobs anymore dummy!
ReplyDeleteLook at womens boxing...no money, sorry, it is what it is. Previous poster was right, invest your time in something that will give you a future and security...not boxing.
