Here is an update on the Diva-Rize-N Promotions card that will take place on Saturday, October 8 at the DC Star in DC.
Capitol Heights, MD super bantamweight Thomas "KO" Snow will be in the main event -- a six-round contest against Rasool Shakoor of Jackson, MI.
Snow (15-1, nine KO's) is making his fourth straight appearance at DC Star. In his last outing, Snow won a six-round unanimous decision over Robert DaLuz on July 16. Shakoor (3-9-1, one KO) has faced opponents in his last four bouts with a combined record of 23-1-1. Shakoor scored a victory against previously undefeated Kieyon Bussey in January of 2010.
The co-feature brings in former WBC and IBF Cruiserweight champion O'Neil "Supernova" Bell of Atlanta, GA to face tough veteran Harvey "Candyman" Jolly of Adrian, MI in a 10-round bout.
The Jamaican-born Bell (26-4-1, 24 KO's) has lost his last three bouts since winning the WBC and IBF titles from Jean-Marc Mormeck in January of 2006. The losses came in a rematch with Mormeck, Tomasz Adamek and fellow Jamaican Richard Hall. Jolly (12-17-1, eight KO's) is coming off an eight-round unanimous decision victory over Joshua Harris on june 18 in Hartford, CT.
In another co-feature bout, Capitol Heights light heavyweight Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan will battle Ariel "Iron" Espinal of The Bronx, NY in a six-round contest.
Also on the card, Baltimore, MD middleweight Jessie "The Beast" Nicklow will take on Frank Armstrong of Winston-Salem, NC. Nicklow (22-2-3, eight KO's) last fought on May 21 and won a six-round unanimous decision over James Freeman in Millersville, MD. Armstrong (4-18-3, three KO's) lost a six-round unanimous decision to Frankie Filipone on June 25 in Virginia Beach, VA.
Columbia, MD middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter will also be on the card in a six-round rematch against Darrett Crockett of Rock Hill, SC. Jeter (11-2-1, nine KO's) defeated Mike McFail by six-round unanimous decision in his last outing on March 12 in Fairfax, VA. Crockett (6-24, four KO's) has lost his last four bouts.
Undefeated Forestville, MD junior middleweight Alantez "Tez" Fox (5-0, three KO's) will battle over four rounds with Kinston, NC’s Aaron Williams (0-2).
Alexandria, VA featherweight Jerren Cochran (3-0, three KO’s) will take on Ohio native Corey White (1-3, 1KO) in a four round contest.
DC’s Jacey Thompson (1-0, one KO) looks to remain perfect when he tangles with winless North Carolina native Michael Taylor (0-4) in a four round middleweight contest.
Undefeated Newark, NJ super middleweight prospect John Thompson (2-0, one KO) will swap punches over four rounds with North Carolina’s own Corey Preston (1-6).
Rounding out the card is a competitive four round contest between middleweights John Watson of Irvington, NJ (1-0) and Wilson, NC's Bennie Meeks (0-3).
The New Jersey state light welterweight champion Michael Torres (14-2, 7KO’s) is also is slated for action in a six rounder against an opponent soon to be determined.
How does DC sanction the Jeter bout? Jeter can't get these boutsw bums approved in MD. This guy has lost 4 straight, kod three of those times, once by Jeter. jeer is a 37 year old tin man, who refuses to fight anyone with an ounce of ability.
ReplyDeleteDing a ling man won!!!
ReplyDeletewhat about the Snow bout! The main event is with a guy 3-9? Are you kidding? And people wonder why DC boxing is hurting.
ReplyDeletethis is not right, Diva had the chance to atleast put a better card together but this same BS. I know I am staying home that night. who wants to watch bums get ko'd. smh its a shame
ReplyDeleteya you got to be kidding me, for the main event snow is fighting a guy who is 3-9, i know the game but at least have a some what even main event and I know he is better than his record but still thats a joke
ReplyDeleteyea, you got a guy who is what, 15-1 fighting a 3-9 main event, wtf? Snow is a decent fighter, shit its time to graduate from fighting D level fighters to C level fighters with a record like that. Definately not upping your market value by fighting bums, everyone sees where your wins are coming from...garbage.
ReplyDeleteSnow should be fighting a guy with AT LEAST an even record if not slightly above.
ReplyDeleteNot a good look for a main event.
Not sure why anyone cares about Jeter, other than to question why DC would approve a fight like this one. Bottom line, he is a 37 year old fighter who doesnt have the confidence to really step up. Shame is, 15 years ago he was a promising fighter, his one loss to the Philly fighter absolutely stole his heart; now he pretends to be a pro fighter while lobbying for shot fighters who can't fight to pad his record. Its sad actually as anyone who follows local boxing understands.
ReplyDeleteSnow, however is a different story. He is a guy with some ability and some time to develop, but at age 30 he better get moving. Its good he is staying active aS fans can see him fight, but I agree that this is in no way a main event fight. It is a step above an exhibition.
Snow should look at the caliber of fighters Teon Kennedy has and is fighting if he is serious about making a run in boxing. Kennedy's path seems to be designed to help him progress, not just pad a record for a payday inwhich Snow will get blown out. . .again.
exactly snow steped up once against teon keneddy and got blasted and now its just a joke and if he steps up again he well get blasted and yes he better hury up the clock is ticking but their really is no future for him maybe he should just get a job I mean does anybody really think he is going somewhere?
ReplyDeleteSnow can get a few decent paydays from rising contenders but thats about it. He won't ever see any world title fights because his Team has shown that they are not worthy of one. You dont' get a world title fight for having just a good record, you have to fight someone at the same time. Maybe he can be called in as an opponent for someone for some BS title. His stock hasn't moved anywhere because he doesn't fight anyone.
ReplyDeleteSnow only fights these guys because others refuse to fight him.
ReplyDeleteClarence Vinson nor Gary Russel will fight him. It's not Snow's fault he is being ducked by everyone. The Teon Kennedy fight could have easly gone the other way. They were both throwing bombs away. Snow would win a rematch on any given day. The team is willing to fight anyone out there, but no one steps up to the challenge. Hate him if you like, everyone hates a winner, look at Floyd Mayweather.
Saying Snow and Money in the same paragraph is a joke! Please. The truth is Snow will not seek fighters who aren't upside down. I think he has some talent but their are plenty of fighters who will fight Snow now that he has demonstrated his ability to get shock a locka!
ReplyDeleteROYARO are you retarted? their are a million people who well fight snow, he is a high end opponent he has a good record but has not fought anybody and when he did fight a real fighter he lost, thats exactly what a real fighter wants to build his record with, and gary russel fight snow are you kidding me gary would destroy snow and you know that.
ReplyDeletewhats the team waiting for snow to turn 40 to step up and make the big money like money mayweather? get the hell out of hear with that BS do the kid a favor and tell him the truth about his future he might get 10-20 grand to take a real fight and he well lose and then his stock well lower their for after evrytime he loses and the he gets a job at cvs cause its to late to do anything else cause he has a bunch of RETARDS in his corner telling him hes goona be the next mayweather.
"Snow only fights these guys because others refuse to fight him.
ReplyDeleteClarence Vinson nor Gary Russel will fight him."
THATS A GREAT IDEA FOR A MAIN EVENT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SNOW'S TEAM IS CALLING OUT BOTH VINSON AND/OR GARY RUSSELL!!! I'm assuming that Royoro is close to Snow's Team if not a part of it, since he is "in the know" of who will and will not fight Snow.
Thanks for the suggestion Royoro! Thats it folks...word is GARY RUSSELL IS AVOIDING THOMAS SNOW!!!!
Snow is 17-1, he is definately worthy of a major fight. Vinson is not even on Snow's level. Russell is doing very well and a fight between Snow and Russell could sell plenty of tickets regardless of where the fight was held. I do believe that Russell will continue to do well, however, we all know that right now Russell is not ready to take on Snow. Not saying he will never be, I'd give him 4 or 5 more fights before taking on a big task as to fight Snow. Not sure how old Snow is, but I've seen him doing road-work on Walker Mill and he runs as though he is 18. I truly beleive a fight between Snow and Russell will never happen. The Russell camp will not gamble his undefeated record with a veteran this early in his fight career.
ReplyDeleteThat message was from me. I am not involved in promoting Snow, I just call it like I see it.
ReplyDelete"we all know that right now Russell is not ready to take on Snow."
ReplyDeleteWHAT!!!! Are you kidding me!!!! You mean, we all know that Snow is not ready to take on Russell!!!
RUSSELL BLASTS SNOW!!!!
How dumb are you guys, Russel fights on HBO , snow is like 32 or something fighting bums on some bs club shows do think think snows name has ever been mentioned at HBO? of course not thats for real fighters not this club level bs.
ReplyDeleteAnd vincint is done so what are you talking about you guys are retarted!
To the person who left this comment
ReplyDelete"THATS A GREAT IDEA FOR A MAIN EVENT AND IT SOUNDS LIKE SNOW'S TEAM IS CALLING OUT BOTH VINSON AND/OR GARY RUSSELL!!!"
Gary Russel is in the mix with the top echolen in the weight class he is talked about fighting yourokus Gamboa not snow you idiot, snow russel main event at dc star great idea are you kidding me russel gonna be fighting for real big money on hbo against the top echelon of fighters not snow for 2,000 in some club show dummy
Snow and I was talking the other day and he had mentioned stepping up his fights. He asked me if I thought Lamont Pearson would fight him.
ReplyDeleteBullshit! He never did say such a thing. They are not even close to being in the same weight class. The only bout that makes since is Russell. They are the same weight and Russell needs to step it up soon. If the young man wants to be the best, than you have to fight the best. Right now, Snow is on top of his game and is the Main Event on October 8th. in the Nations Captial. Russell could have been directly across from him, but he chose otherwise. Snow would give Gamboa all he could handle right now. Talk shit all you want, but Snow is craftsman and will get his chance in the near future as soon as a big name takes a chance. Sooner or later, they will be forced to fight him. He has one loss on his record and that fight could have easly gone the other way. Most of you fault him for not fighting guys with better records, but it's not his fault that they refuse to fight. Even if they did, do you have any idea what it would cost to get them to do so. Futhermore, you harp on his age when this man is always in terrific shape. I have seen over 9 of his fights and have yet to see him tired. Give credit when it's due!!!
ReplyDeleteGary Russell would destroy KO Snow. It wouldn't even be a good fight..unless you like completely one sided affairs
ReplyDeleteYou'll must have forgot! Thomas Snow knocked out Terrance Roy who has 34 fights to his credit. Snow destroyed him 2 rounds.
ReplyDeleteHe just beat the crap out of Robert Deluz who has over 53 bouts on his resume. And you call me a retard! I'm not saying Russel is not a damn good boxing youngster, I'm just saying he ain't ready for Thomas KO Snow. Gamboa and Snow would be one hell of a match-up. You seem to be hatin on the veteran. Hate all you want, the man is the Main Event on October 8th. You need to be there to witness another spectacular Knock Out. I think after this fight, you and everyone else will change your mind. (Dynomite comes in small packages)
In two years Snow would not be able to handle Lil G. Trust me, he's getting better, stronger, and smarter. If Snow is going to get him, it better be soon. Lil G is climbing fast.
ReplyDeleteRoyaro...seriously????
ReplyDeleteEveryone on this thread could beat Terrance Roy and DaLuz.
Snow has not stepped up in competition since he turned pro.
Snow Vs. Russell Dec. 10th. HBO undercard in your backyard.
ReplyDeleteIt's going to happen!
First things first, Gary Russell will kick the shit out of Thomas Snow if they ever fight. Second, this card in Dc is a joke. Tony J. is fighting a bum. He has no heart. In his mind he really thinks he is going to get a big payday padding his record with garbage fights. I hope a real fighter calls him out soon and beats the dog shit out of his ass.
ReplyDeleteJust come watch Snow perform. He is a crowd pleaser, that's why he is the main event you dummy. Why do you think Vinson nor Russel will accept his challenge!!!
ReplyDeleteThe truth of the matter is snow gets offers all the time to step up and take fights and never accepts, so what do you have to say about that?
ReplyDeleteSnow would beat Russell by a decision, but Eric Nemo would beat them both by KO. You can take that to the bank. I checked out Snow and Russell's oppenants on boxrec and to be fair, neither one have fought anyone. It's ridclous! Eric Nemo is calling them both out! Will fight them both in the same night.
ReplyDeletetwo top fighters are the card are from jersey mike torres just won nj state title and is fighting A 6OR A 8 ROUNDER THEN JOHN THOMPSON IS A VERY GOOD BOXER FROM NEWARK THAT IS FIGHTING A 4 ROUNDER WATCH THEM
ReplyDeletei dont think yhe card is a joke but there are some week fights
