Former IBF Featherweight champion Eric "Mighty Mouse" Aiken returns to action quickly as he is a late substitute for fellow Beltway Boxer Daniel "The Prophet" Attah on Friday, September 23 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, FL.
Aiken (16-8-1, 12 KO's) will take on veteran Edner "Cherry Bomb" Cherry of Wauchula, FL (28-6-2, 16 KO's) in a 10-round main event just 13 days after losing a six-round unanimous decision to Todd Wilson at the Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. Since winning the IBF title in May of 2006, Aiken has been winless in his last five bouts. This will be Aiken's second bout since taking a three-year hiatus from the sport. Aiken replaces Attah, who suffered lower back pains in training camp. Attah lives in Northern Virginia.
Cherry, a native of The Bahamas, has won four straight bouts since losing a WBC Junior Welterweight title bid against Timothy Bradley in September of 2008.

ReplyDeleteWhat contribution do you bring to boxing to call yourself Brian dillon boxing?
ReplyDeleteI get in were I can fit in, help out fighters, promoters and matchmakers whenever I can. Just a boxing lifer putting in work
ReplyDeleteI don't know whether I would brag about this one Brian. Cherry fought Bradley tough at 140 and is a very experinced tough fighter and Eric is really a 126 who has not been fighting that consistently. Good luck Mouse, you will need it with this guy.
ReplyDeletethe fight is at 132. Should be an entertaining fight.
ReplyDeletebrian dillon help me out on something. never understood the role of and not sure what to call what you do matchmaker or booking agent. how do you go about getting fighters matched and booking fights. i am assuming you get paid so who pays you? it doesnt sound like your licensed or working for a promoter on a show. i guess you would be more on your own is that right? like this aiken fight. how did that come about?
ReplyDeleteWell for this particular fight I am a booking agent. I know Aiken through the boxing circuit. Over 20years of working in the game you meet alot of good people who I have worked with/for multiple times.
ReplyDeleteI tend to fancy myself as an independant matchmaker. I have been a matchmaker in the past, but I find booking much more fun and less stressful. I have several promoters as accounts.
Every dime I get; gets paid by the promoter. I don't like taking fighter money. Because all i do is make phone calls. What happens is promoters look for a certain match up and look at guys like me to find that particular fighter or match up.
From what I understand there isn't any jurisdiction that licenses booking agents.
I hope this helps. Any other questions feel free to ask.
What difference does it make about his contribution,at least he's doing something for boxing. A fighter dropped out so there is a for a replacement, try and find someone on a short notice, not easy. Who better to put on a decent fight than someone who just fought.
ReplyDeletethanks for answering dillon basically you have lots of contacts and make calls and when you see a opening you help make the fight and get a fee for making the fight from the promoter ok got it
ReplyDeleteyes most times promoters reach out to me. Very seldom i contact promoters or matchmakers, Although everyday i contact fightes to strenghten my fighter base
ReplyDeleteDo you contact other peoples fighters?
ReplyDeleteAiken is a bum he just want money.
ReplyDeleteDo I contact other people's fighters? To honestly answer your questions sometimes I have to. I do my best to contact managers first. Most times managers never call you back.. So then I will try to reach out to fighters and when i do I ask them to keep the manager in the loop or have him call me.
ReplyDeleteI also will contact fighters because there are people out there who say they manage someone when in fact they don't. most fighters will be up front and say call my manager.
then there are cases when I have known a certain fighter for a long time and it is just easier to me to contact him.
Cherry by second round KO.
ReplyDeleteThis fight should never happen
Brian, have you done business with Joe Hensley?
ReplyDeleteNo I haven't, I have had several conversations but nothing panned out.
