Michael Reed Wins National Golden Gloves Title!

For the second consecutive year, the Beltway Region has a National Golden Gloves Champion! Michael Reed has won the 141-pound National Championship with a 4-1 decision over George Rincon of Texas.

Reed has had an outstanding run in just two years of open competition. Reed won a silver medal at the 2010 USA Boxing National Championships and a bronze medal at last year's National PAL Tournament. Reed also participated in the USA-China Dual Meet in New York City and won his bout.

In the 178-pound division championship, Jerry Odom lost a 3-2 decision to Caleb Plante of Knoxville, TN.

The Washington, DC team captured second place in the team competition behind Texas and ahead of the Colorado-New Mexico squad.

Congratulations to the DC-area squad for another outstanding Golden Gloves showing!
