The headline bout will be the East Coast Middleweight title between "Vicious" Julius Kennedy of Windsor Mill, MD and Scott "Cujo" Sigmon of Bedford, VA.
Gary,
ReplyDeleteI read your articles every day and find the information invaluable to me in keeping up with the local boxing scene. I find many of the comments to be very distasteful, but I still read them and as an adult, I can decide what I want to read and what I want to believe. Please consider posting the comments as before. I appreciate all of the time and effort that you dedicate to our sport and hope that you will consider my request.
Respectfully submitted,
Bruce Frank
Bruce, I appreciate what you are saying. Right now, however, I don't feel comfortable bringing back the anonymous comments. They were too nasty and they were also getting too personal toward myself and others.
ReplyDeleteSince I don't have the time to monitor every comment, I just decided that if they can't put their names behind their awful comments, I rather not have them there. I'm leaving the door open for certain times to have anonymous comments, but not at this time.
Thanks again!
I understand the original intent of allowing annonymous comments, to allow those in the industry to speak candidly without fearing professional repercussions. But those "inside" comments were far outweighed by the dross spewed by haters who were always annonymous.
ReplyDeleteAs one of the (signed) posters invited to come to [city deleted]to have my face punched by an annonymous poster, I can appreciate that the shield of annonymity had gone too far and was being abused.
That being said, the lack of comments has indeed taken away an aspect of this blog that I truly enjoyed.
How much time would it take if there were a "comments must be approved by blog owner" filter?. It would be prohibitive if Gary had to respond every time he got a comment.
But if it were only updated once or twice a day, it might be doable, especially since the annonymous haters would likely back off once denied the personal satisfaction of seeing their flames in print and enjoying the resulting attention from other posters.
