Boxing Comes To DC's Northwest Masonic Temple October 30!

Babie Girl Productions is bringing a pro boxing card to the Northwest Masonic Temple, 1000 U Street, NW in DC on Saturday, October 30.

The two main event bouts are contests sanctioned by the Global Boxing Association, a sanctioning body based in England. In one contest, Columbia, MD junior middleweight Tony "Mo Better" Jeter (9-2-1, eight KO's) will battle Jose Felix of Savannah, GA (10-9-2, three KO's) for the GBA Junior Middleweight title. Jeter is unbeaten in his last six bouts and has scored knockouts in four of those bouts. Felix is winless in his last seven and has been knocked out in all seven contests.

The other GBA bout is for the vacant super bantamweight title as 2000 Olympic bronze medalist Clarence "Untouchable" Vinson (17-2, seven KO's) takes on Steve Cannell of Santa Fe, NM (4-4-3). Vinson has been idle since his eight-round majority decision victory over Robert Da Luz in June of 2009 at the Washington Convention Center. Cannell is coming off a six-round unanimous decision over Hassan Wasswa on June 12 of this year in Nova Scotia.

Other locals on the card include Baltimore middleweight Devin Butcher (1-0) who will face Troy Nelson of Columbus, OH (0-5). Also, DC cruiserweight Andre Ward and Baltimore cruiser Walter Tyler will make their pro debuts against one another.

We're also scheduled to get a look at undefeated 18-year-old Vero Beach, FL junior middleweight prospect Bobby "The Prodigy" Bryant (8-0, six KO's). Bryant will take on veteran Rohan "The Beast" Nanton (7-25-1, six KO's) of Brooklyn, NY in a six-round contest. At least two more bouts are scheduled for the show.

  3. that guy walter tyler is 40 something years old!!!! making a debut at cruiserweight; maybe it's his son,too funny... he can crack though. we were in germany together in the late 80's early 90's. lost his amateur status though because the germans were paying him to fight for them. always wondered what happened to him.. gary, are you familiar with him? is it the father or son ??? I know his son has to be in his 20's.

  4. Gary, Jeter's fight is a joke. How can VA sanction this fight? Jeter's opponent hasnt been able to finish a fight in 5 years! Jeter isnt much of a fighter, but the guy can punch. This is bullshit, boxing needs to better.

  5. I believe this is his son. Vincent Pettway is working with him.

Virginia has nothing to do with the Jeter bout. This is DC's situation.

  8. Gary Williams. Grab your nutsac and be a man. Call the GBA what it is, an fing joke. How can Jeter fight for anything other than some money and they sanction this with the bum he is fighting? You are getting really soft Gary and it's ashame because you know the real deal. I used to fight in this area for a few years and you were different back then when you covered my fights. You must be on the payroll of local promoters because this stance, of I am not going to tell the truth, but just say nice things is BS! Shut this blog down or turn it over to someone with a nutsac who will tell the truth.

Former fighter from MD who knows the real deal and it's not on this blog!

  9. My job is to report. I don't feel I have to right to initially comment. I think the GBA speaks for itself, I don't have to comment further. I am here to report the news. It would be unfair to put down one card over another. THAT is my job.

And since we're talking about nutsacs, at least I have enough to put my name behind EVERYTHING I say. We obviously can't say the same for you. So who needs them?

I AM SORRY Gary but he had that coming from me.

  13. Appreciate the support as always, Richard. I should let you know that this is not the real Chris Middendorf. He has a lot more class than that.

  14. The GBA is a new upstart sanctioning body. There was a time that the IBF and WBO were start up companies. They are calling around to promoters to try to get their product out there. So is it a joke no it is in its infancy stage trying to establish itself.

So to all the skeptics let me say this. What do say or think we a new restaurant or bar open in your neighborhood? Do you bad mouth it or talk bad a bout. No you probbly give it shot and check it out. Why can't you do that with the GBA? Then if you dont like it dont go.

Bo and Alex are off due to contract hiccups

  15. Appreciate that, Brian! Great way to define them. That is a big reason why I just put the info out there and let people decide. They need to be given a chance.

  18. Hey punk, Gary is not a guy who is going to do that. So it is going to take more than a nutsac, but a spine as well. Get it right Middendorfous!
