  5. YUP, DAVE HOLLANDS TIME IS SHORT, maybe the new commissioner will try to get the rest of the country to quit laughing at virginias boxing. it will take time and some decent promoters, will have to hire an exterminator to rid the state of vermin like joe (check bouncer) hensley aka the fat, slimey, pimp!

  6. So what is happening that is going to take Dave Holland down?

  7. Gary why dont you get rid of this part of your site where people can post comments, 90% of the comments are hatefull. I dont see any point to puplish this hate speach. Do you?

  9. I have tried to stop the anonymous comments in the past and traffic on the site slowed to a crawl. I can't control the fact that these folks say this crap without the guts to sign their names or at least the guts to email me privately with the "proof" they have. My email is on the site, yet they can't send me their "proof".

I have talked to VA officials. David Holland is in no danger of losing his job. If anyone has proof to the contrary, my email is beltwayboxing@hotmail.com. If you don't have the proof, kindly keep your hateful comments to yourself!

  11. Gary, so what your saying is the hate speach is what gets you traffic on the site. You should shut down this part of the site because it is only going to continue with this kind of speach. I just downt see the point even if they say who they are, you are the only credable source so why do we need to hear from everybody else?.....ps thanks for your efforts but I am just saying I dont see the point.

  12. No, that's not what I'm saying. What I am saying is that the comments -- all comments -- are the only concrete way that I know that people are reading the site.

People have a right to their opinion -- even when it's wrong.

As I've said in the past, many people who comment anonymously work within the boxing community so I don't want to take away their opportunity to comment.

The hateful comments are really coming from just a few people and I refuse to let just a few stop us.

  13. Tell em G Dog. If you don't like the hate comments, then go play with Joe Hensley at the little fat boy table. G Dog is the best and he can do what he wants. Start your own blog you piss ant if you do not like this one. BATB is the bomb diggity like Jimmy Lange hairdo.

Float like a butterfly, grease my hair like Johnny Lange, grease young man grease!

  14. the comments are where the fun is at! kind of like the natinal enquirer dont get rid of the commments! i like hearing that this guy is a crook that guy is fat this guy is an ass that guy is crazy and this other guy saying im the greaatest! this stuff is funny and enterrtaainning and if you take it too serious then get a life!

  15. And occasionally the anonymous comments take on a life of their own. Tell me that this blog wouldn't be a lot less fun to read without the passions generated by Joe Hensley, Dave Holland, Jimmy Lange, Perry Ballard, Cujo, and Justin "Green River" Ridgway, to name just a handful.

  18. Don't plan on it. Dave McKenna (and I know Dave personally) has done some great stories about boxing but he doesn't have to write about boxers on a regular basis and he doesn't.

My job is not to put down our own boxers. My job is to get the news and info about our locals, not tear them down. Lange (as he did when he did fight Jimmy LeBlanc) will tell you that the bout was nothing special.

  19. You know what-there are a lot of local boxers that do this-I'm not going to point out names-but while it was a pathtic mismatch can you really fault Lange? He can't beat the top contenders at this point in his career and hes trying to poston himself for one last big payday while he still has the drawing power of his name.
I really think its a combination of Lange refusing to admit to himself that its really truly over for him as far as world class boxing is concerned mixed with trying to provide for his family.
We've all seen so many boxers-both local and international who just wouldn't call it a day regardless of the losses-its hard to walk away from the limelight/money.

  20. It is not putting a fighter down to say they are facing tomato cans. Jimmy is a nice kid, but come on! No bait needed, you backed up what I said Mister Gary 100% and I still think you are the best writer in local boxing today.

    ReplyDelete
  21. Dave McKena can eat a big fat bowl of dick! And Im not a Lange fan, cant stand him but I love boxing and I cant stand these guys that dont report on it, and all of a sudden they write something, and its this type of bullshit!

And as far as Gary is concerned, he is like Al Bernstein or Bob Sheridan, they are ambassadors for boxing. I read an interview recenently with Sheridan where he viewed his job as "putting boxing in the best light possible". And I think Mr. Williams approaches this blog and the sport in the same light!

  22. Jimmy has almost no drawing power.
He has a father that is a master of deception and has done a very good job of making everyone believe his son has all the drawing power that everyone thinks he does.I'm sure that it has cost him a bundle of money to do this but I guess he wanted his kid to be the most popular fighter at any cost.
I don't wish any hard feelings on the Langes but it may be time to move along little doggy.

  23. the previous comment is 100% dead on. people arent seeing langes name on the billboard and rushing out and buying tickets. papa lange moves the vast majority over those tickets, well over $100,000 worth, for each show at the patriot center. its a hard sale too, papa lange works very very hard to generate those sales. but he also likes to pretend that his son has all of this drawing power and thats straight bs. i know what time it is.

  24. Dave McKena wrote that article like a middle school reporter, I sure and the hell would not spend to mush time reading anything he writes. No professionalism to that writing, big difference between him and Gary.

He really needs to look at some of Gary s articles and look on how boxing should be wrote about as a writer that has knowledge of the sport they write about.

  25. Thank you for the comparisons to two men I deeply admire in this business. I have had an opportunity to meet both Mr. Bernstein and Mr. Sheridan and definitely appreciate and agree with their approaches to reporting the sport.

  26. Gary riding the rails too much lately, not coming strong to the mic.

    ReplyDelete
  27. That goes for you and Jerome Spears, Gary. Two great guys that really love boxing, and always approach it from a positive angle!

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would like to comment on the guy a few slots above me.

If Mr. Lange is the driver of the ship "selling tickets" then who is he selling if it isn't his son?

People are buying the tickets because its a good night out of boxing. JIMMY LANGE is the draw. You get to catch up with old friends and network with new ones.

I think a fair amount of people go for other reasons. It is just a good night that this area deseprately needs for its boxing healthy well being.

When Jimmy hangs it up this area or at least VA will suffer dearly

    ReplyDelete
  29. It should also be noted that out off the ten or so Lange shows, by far the least attended was the MMA card, the only one of the bunch where the headliner was not Jimmy Lange.

One can argue forever that the true draw of these events is the unercard, the social experinece, the Patriot Center venue or whatever. But the fact remains that no other production team with no other local headliner has been able to duplicate the consistent low-to-mid four-figure attendance.

  31. You guys quit sucking Johnny Langes ass. Most all of the tickets are comp tickets. You want to be part of the show because there are alot of people there and you want to look important in front of everybody. It probobly is a good night out for the average boxing trainer, manager, fighter, promoter,
but most of those guys are probobly suck ass too. This particular night out might suffer
but the Lange Kid needs to pack it in if his dad has to pay people like the last guy to fall down to make his Son a winner.
This schrade is almost at it's end
now maybe some other people will bring real fights to this area.

  40. Yes, Lange can make a run at a title shot for sure

    ReplyDelete
  41. Yes we can call it the patriot center title and J.D. Brown along with Johnny Lange can saction it
with some kind of boxing organization they can invent.
    I can see it now!
The who's Ma who's Ma Who's Ma title of Braddock Road. The whole Patriot Center thing is just a place where the in house fighters get over the hill or even bums to fight and some of the other men on the card have real fights.
How about the one that sliped through the cracks last show there? Dantre King kicked the shit out of The spanish kid and they gifted him with a draw.Everyone thought that Rodriguez was going to stop King but somebody forgot to tell Dantre that and he proceeded to put a country ass whipping on the
    Savior of El salvador.

We know there are bad actors out there, and while I can not speculate about their motives, we consider the use of 2-SV is a critical security measure that sellers must enable and keep in their arsenal without even waiting until June 30th when it will become a requirement." In case you haven't enabled 2-SV on your Seller Central account yet, go to the Help & Client Service page on the Amazon site and follow the measures. Some sellers say the sign-up process was speedy and simple, but to the others it was nightmarish. Your experience might be different and worth discussing.
