Lange Begins Three-Bout Tour in Greensboro, NC Friday!

Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange will start a block of three bouts on Friday, August 20 when he takes on veteran Mike McFail of Baltimore in a six-round bout at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex's War Memorial Auditorium in Greensboro, NC.

This will be Lange's first bout away from the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA since May 2005 when he defeated Tarick Salmaci in the fan favorite bout at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas, NV during the finale of the first season of "The Contender."

Lange (32-4-2, 22 KO's) is coming off a second-round TKO over Jimmy LeBlanc on July 10 at the Patriot Center. McFail (12-39-2, four KO's) is winless in his last 15 bouts but has fought solid prospects and former champions throughout his 13-year career including Peter Manfredo, Jr., Harry Joe Yorgey, Ivan Robinson, Julius Fogle, Travis Simms and Tommy Karpency. Locally, McFail has battled the likes of Jeff Passero, George Armenta, Matt Hill, Keith Harrison, Norman Smith and Marlon Haynes.

Lange and McFail have four common opponents. Lange beat Thomas Wilt while McFail lost three times to Wilt. Lange defeated Frank Houghtaling while McFail lost twice. They both hold wins over Matt Hill and Benji Singleton.

Lange is also scheduled to compete on a card in Monroe, MI on Saturday, September 18 and then return to the Patriot Center on Saturday, November 6.

  3. Jimmy Lange is a joke..... His destiny is to become a "professional opponent" but he is just prolonging the inevitable with these fight..

I mean, C'mon!!!.... His opponent has lost his last 15 bouts and has the word *FAIL* in his last name

  4. who do you want jimmy to fight?

  5. Mike McFail's record is 12 ins (4 by KO) and 39 losses (he has been knocked out 12 times). He is 37 years old. In his last 32 fights he holds one win over Mark Norge who was 5-16 at the time and on a TEN fight losing streak and one draw with Vance Garvey who was 6-23 at the time and had not had a win for TWELVE fights. In other words, his most recent win, was actually his only win in 32 fights covering a period of 8 years and four months.
There was a time where Jimmy Lange seemed to be a class act in the fight game. Sadly he has sunk to the lowest level of the sport. To take his name, and his trainers to the Carolinas to go beat up on Mike McFail is just pathetic. Obviously it is sad for Mike McFail, as all he is doing is trying to earn some money, certainly not win, as he has no chance. But shame on the commission for allowing this type of fight. Shame on the promoter for putting this sort of crap on in front of his paying customers. And shame and Lange and his team for doing this. This is despicable and a blight on the sport.

  6. AMEN BROTHER.

Gary what do you really think of this kind of Manuever.Honestly.
I know what you really think but just wondering if you would say it publicly.

  7. Would I rather see Lange fight someone more credible? Definitely! These are bouts that I don't personally think Lange has to take.

There was talk that his bout in Michigan was going to be against Bronko McKart, but Lange was going to be asked to carry too much weight. They will be boxing on the same card, though.

The question still remains, though -- Who does he fight at this stage? Until someone can answer that question, these stay busy fights may be the best thing at this stage.

  8. Gary you and everybody else knows that these kind of bouts are only good for a fighter at the beginning of his career and for Lange to be fighting these kind of people at this point in his carrer really is a discrace. All it does is put a few numbers up on your record but those numbers are nothing but a phisod for all the local boxing community to see.
The only thing I can think to say is stick a fork in because he is DONE.

  9. who does he fight? He should fight someone that will increase his worth-win or lose! not someone who will decrease his worth! that is the problem with boxing......people calling themselves fighters who only want to beat up on dead bodies and run scared when the opprtunity of a tough or even competitive fight is discussed. I can honestly say this part of the sport makes me ashamed to be involved in it!I mean come on chavez jr. would beat him.....john duddy forget about it but at least he would get paid for those fights and so what if one of them beats him. If any of these tomato cans lands a lucky punch...and believe me it happens.... hes finished. Terrible decision making in my opinion and again its only my opinion so take in on the chin and keep moving...... p.s- not joe hensley

  10. Gary that is just a cop out.
You know that these kind of fights
at this stage of Jimmy Langes career is an embarresment to the local boxing community. The Langes have tried to portray themselves as leaders in this area in this sport. This is not the answer.
Enough of this deceit Jimmys fights are fixed and most of the people in boxing know it.
The people that lead in this sport should call an ace an ace.

  11. I have John Mackey for Jimmy Lange on November at Patriot Center. Lets do it Jimmy, lets make this fight happen. I think it will be hell of a fight and people will love this one if happens.

  12. Mackey would be an ideal opponent for Lange at this stage. Mackey is a credible boxer that would test Lange.

  13. Lang is becoming the Rob Calloway of his weight class. Hes trying to become a guy with a impressive record that cant really fight. Instead of a 3 bout toure Lang should fight 8 of these figts a year for 3 years and get to 56 and 4 with 45KO's. Impressive right? Looks like he can fight right? Wrong! Oh and forget about Bronco McKart. Even now he would beat Lang every second of every round and its 100 to 90 on all 3 judgs scorcards. And Macky? Never happens in 1000 lifetimes and he would whip Lang too.

  15. A six round fight!!!! Please........

  16. Gary,

Mackey and Lang shouldnt be mentioned in same sentence. Mackey is real fighter, Lang is fraud. Mackey has fought some good guys and actually beaten some of them. Donnie Orr, McGirt Jr., Derek Ennis, Jesse Nicklow, Cecil McCalla, Josh Snyder, Alex Mancera and Charles Norwood are a millioon times more impressve than any names on Langs list. Macky beat Orr, drew with Nicklow, barely lost to McCalla, drew and lost to Snyder, and beat Mancera and Norwood. Hell, Norwood would knock Langs head clean off his shoulders! Seriously, compare that list to Langs. Shields? Reid? Houghtaling? Cabell? Wilt? Gilbert? Are you fucking serious! No comparison at all! Mackey would crush Lang!

  17. I think that some people on here are getting paid to put Jimmy Lange down. Jimmy is the greatest fighter out of this area since Larry Brothers! I dare you to say it's not so! Jimmy call me and we can sign now. Contracts are waiting.

  22. i think its fair to say we dont know what Jimmy would do agianst a next level fighter because it has not happened.. John s the manager, so if he thinks Jimmy needs some "stay active- tuneups" then thats what happens. Mcfail has gone rounds with several tough guys-to his credit so i expect him to come to fight..and as for all the guys with nothing but negative shit to say - i ask- what fighters do you all have that are currently attracting say 3000 ppl per show for aprox the last 7 years? or, how many are just jealous at Jimmys success with out really having huge fights? Mackey would be interesting, so would lehoilier or yorgey. obvioisly, i would like to see Jimmy fight some top guys but im not in charge.. Im expecting a ko in NC then one in Michigan after those fights November should be a step up..I been a believer in Jimmy since the start of his career and I still am today.. pmurphy

  23. so p murphy your a believer huh? look at langs losses and draws.

Kevin Collins - lost who the heck is he anyway?

James Johnson - draw he's like 25 and 50 now

Joey Gilbert - lost have you EVER seen Gilbert fight? Hes absolutely horrible!

Joey Gilbert - lost this time by KO!

Fontaine Cabell - draw Cabell had lost 5 out of 6 fights prior to his first fight with Lange. He also had a draw with a guy who was 2 and 10!

Chase Shields - lost Shields couldn't even beat a completely shot J.C. Candelo in his fight prior to fighting Lange! Shields also barely beat a 7 and 12 fighter!

Now look at his wins. Who did he beat? Reid, Wiley, Cabell, Wilt, Ballard, Salmaci, Homer Gibbins?

Lang cant fight even a little bit. Hes a bum!

    P. Murphy, still believe in Lang? Let me ask you something. You still believe in Santa Claus too?

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yeah P Murphy. The proof is in the pudding and the dude cant fight. As far as Santa is concerned I watch him every year on the internet! I know hes real. Langs the phoney!

    ReplyDelete
  25. i didnt say hes the greatest fighter in the world , i said that i know he s got the heart and the talent it takes to beat anybody on any given day. Anyhow, theres a reason people been coming out to see Jimmy fight for last decade. you can't deny that. we ALL know Jimmy can fight..what im saying is if he gets himself focused , he is a VERY tough customer and i believe hes got what it takes. sorry if hes offended you by being sucessful.

  26. so p murphy your a believer huh? look at langs losses and draws.

Jimmys name would be Lange not langs? Not sure if you were there on any of the nights Jimmy fought the boxers you are talking about, or really not sure how well you follow boxing. Do a little reading on those matches. And what about Santa Claus? you going to tell me Mrs Claus does not look a little hot after a couple egg nogs?

  27. so who cares how good of a fighter Jimmy Lange is,he is a money maker, look at all the world champs this area has had in the past simon brown real good fighter-broke, blocker-broke,too sharpe-broke,holmes-broke,joppy-broke,bowe-broke,Don King did a show at the verizon center with three world champs from here they didn't have 3,000 paid, give me a Jimmy Lange ticket seller all day long if i'm the promoter.who cares how good he is, he is a champ at the box office...Lou Duva

    ReplyDelete
  28. jimmy can sell tickets...he used to could fight...now he swings very wildly and misses targets by a couple feet. I believe he needs to quit. Everybody is bashing him not for just fighting stiffs but for fighting these kinds of fights and then going around and saying how he is going to fight all of these top level guys. please. we all know the deal. I do believe that no comission should approve fights like these with some one with 30+ wins against someone that has the opposite record. Its not a sport or a business its slaughter and should not be allowed.
