Two local, undefeated Beltway heavyweight prospects are slated to move up in competition in separate bouts during the next two months.
Brandywine, MD's Seth "Mayhem" Mitchell (17-0-1, 11 KO's) has reportedly been added to the Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz card on Saturday, July 31 at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV. Mitchell is scheduled to take on "The One Man Riot" Derek Bryant of Philadelphia, PA (20-5-1, 17 KO's) in an eight-round bout.
Mitchell is coming off a second-round TKO over Johnnie White in front of a nationally-televised ESPN2 audience on May 2 in Albuquerque, NM. Bryant has not fought since losing an eight-round unanimous decision to Jason Estrada in November of 2008 in Lincoln, RI.
On Friday, August 13 at the Arena in Philadelphia, PA, DC heavyweight Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm is slated to headline the card and participate in his first scheduled eight-rounder. Byarm (7-0, five KO's) was born in Philadelphia and is fighting there for the first time in his young pro career. No word yet on his opponent. Byarm has scored first-round knockouts in his last two bouts.
Good to see Seth stepping up the comp. Doe he work a full-time job as well?
ReplyDeleteWhen do maurice fight in baltimore again gary? and is he sighned to a promoter? if not why not?
ReplyDeleteNo official word on when Byarm will fight again in Baltimore, although there is a card slated for September 10 at Du Burns Arena. As far as Byarm signing with a promoter: I don't know what the gameplan is but I can say that promoters around the country know about him. I have fielded questions about Byarm from promoters who shall remain nameless.
