A number of Beltway Boxers will be a part of a pro card coming to the Norfolk Scope in Norfolk, VA on Saturday, August 14.
Headlining the card will be former world heavyweight champion Hasim "The Rock" Rahman taking on journeyman Damon Reed in a scheduled 10-round encounter. Rahman (47-7-2, 38 KO's) will be fighting for the third time this year. On June 19, Rahman scored a fourth-round TKO over Shannon Miller in Niagra Falls, NY.
Reed (45-13, 32 KO's) is a veteran who has fought the likes of Kali Meehan and Monte Barrett. Reed has not fought since November 13 when he stopped Jim Franklin in the third round in Kansas City, MO.
The co-feature is a rematch between Capitol Heights, MD's Henry "Sugar Poo" Buchanan and long-time nemesis and Norfolk's own Bobby Jordan, Jr. Buchanan (19-2, 12 KO's) will be defending his World Boxing Foundation All-Americas Super Middleweight title. Buchanan last fought on April 2 at the Washington Convention Center and won an eight-round unanimous decision over Julius Fogle. Jordan (8-2-1, four KO's) has won his last two bouts at the Scope, scoring back-to-back fourth-round TKO's.
Buchanan and Jordan have fought a total of seven previous times -- six in the amateurs (Buchanan has the advantage, 5-1) and once as pros (Buchanan won an eight-round unanimous decision in DC on October 24).
According to Chris Perry of Fightnews.com, Buchanan had some interesting words to say about his rival at a recent press conference in Norfolk.
“We do have a great history when it comes to boxing,” said Buchanan. Looking at his rival at the press conference he continued, “You are a very tough guy, a sharp guy with a lot of heart. You have beautiful parents who care a lot about you. As I hear you speak, I’m touched by the situation. But, what do you want me to do? I’ve got to hurt you. I don’t want to, but I’ve got no other choice. I have to hurt you and you know I will because I’ve done it in the past. This time, I’ve got to put something on you to make you never speak my name again unless it’s in church when your asking God to protect you from me.”
Jordan simply responded, “When we fight, we’re gonna fight like we always do,” responded Jordan. “And, yes, I’m going to try and hurt you as you will try and hurt me. That’s part of the game. I appreciate the opportunity again. I’ll see you on the 14th.”
Also on the card will be undefeated Glen Burnie, MD cruiser "The American Child" Nick Kisner (4-0, two KO's) taking on Kenneth Farr of Rocky Mount, NC (0-3) and super featherweight Darrell "The Project" Martin of Baltimore (4-12, one KO) will battle Norfolk's Stephan Alexander (4-2, four KO's).

ReplyDeleteWhy do you need him fresh for September 26. Please tell me this is not your comeback fight that kid would hurt you.
ReplyDeletethe lawsuits against dave holland will be hitting the commission before august 14th. so long senile old fuck, when they take your house and your job ask fat joe hensley if you can move in with him. good luck on that! that slippery bastard only uses people, never helps them.

ReplyDeleteI agree I seen McCombs recently the dude focused man good luck on your return.
ReplyDeleteNeither one of them put asses in the seats but I pick Rich on this one..
ReplyDeleteHow old is Nick 35 lol
ReplyDeleteTHIS KID WILL NOT BEAT ME AND KNOW DISRESPECT I THINK NICK IS A COOL GUY,BUT ITS BUSINESS FROM HERE ON....
ReplyDeleteSo richard mccombs is fighting Slick Nick there is no way he beats nick and im taking all bets on this one nick can punch now a lil more and is way quicker
ReplyDeleteif nick is 35 richy is 75
ReplyDeletedont get food poisoning this time Richey, like you did against Adam Seal
ReplyDeleteI think it will be a good fight. Nick can't punch so richard will have his spots and may even surprise Nick.
ReplyDeletehaha you guys are iddiots tony beat mccombs what you think a big slick quick beast is gonna do to him haha some times there are some iddiots on here
ReplyDeleteidiots are right if u think mcombs is making a comeback to return as the same fighter who faught bed wetter jeter short night for slick
ReplyDeleteI have nothing bad to say about either fighter,I will be ringside but I were to bet which I am not I would bet on McCombs.
ReplyDeleteNick dont hit hard and from what I'm hearing there trying to avoid this fight why?? easy win for kisner
ReplyDeleteGary who you pick
ReplyDeleteI think I'd have to go with Kisner, only because he's been active. But don't count McCombs out.
ReplyDeleteI mean Mcombs he has talent I worked with slim recently and if he faces kisner easy work all day...
ReplyDeleteI'm with you Gary but something inside me feels mcombs will pull it off some how.
ReplyDeleteI respect what you said Gary and everyone else who is supporting me,But come September 26,2010 it will all go down dont miss it.
ReplyDeletegarauntee this fight never materializes. My sources tell me this is just blog bantar.
ReplyDeleteNick Kisner has no idea who mccombs is. No one has contacted him at all about this. He said this is the first time he has heard about this.
ReplyDeletewell I have a contract that states otherwise,And when I heard of Nick I had know clue as to who he was but I know now....oh Nick knows who I am but I hope it goes through forreal.
ReplyDeletekisner has no clue whatso ever.where is the show september 26th. and i seen a video of this guy. kisner is going to kill him. this guy cant fight, he is slow and isnt good lmao. 2nd round ko for kisner
ReplyDeletethis is nothing to make a big deal of. kisner is a prospect who i 4-0. mccombs is a loser who is 1-2. something wrong with ur chin. anyone who makes a biggie of this is ridicolous. and show proof that u got the contract. this is just a big lie and waste of time. nick just laughed and said some people r ridicoulous lol
ReplyDeleteits sad because rich really wants to fight I seen the kid train,he has no one guiding him so he gets on blogs to self promote it hopes of a break through. I heard there is a contract which mcombs has signed but Kisner has not so its really a possible fight.I would really like to see people get on here and support the fighters instead of trash talking them smh
ReplyDeleteRICH 1ST ROUND KO
ReplyDeleteThis fight, if it ever happens, will be just what we saw with lil G. An older fighter who doen't have the resources to combat nicks speed
ReplyDeletewhere is this card and who is promoting Kisners next win
