Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange finally has an opponent for his 10-round contest on the Saturday, July 10th card at the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA.
His name: Jimmy "The Dream" LeBlanc of Weymouth, MA and he is not a stranger to the Patriot Center. LeBlanc (12-16-4, four KO's) scored a first-round TKO over Luther Smith on November 1, 2008. LeBlanc has only fought once since that bout -- losing by disqualification in the fourth round against undefeated Gary O'Sullivan in March of 2009 in Dorchester, MA. Over the past five years, the combined won-loss records of LeBlanc's opponents is 91-21-6.
"The Bolivian Queen" Jennifer Salinas of Manassas, VA also has an opponent for her six-round contest. Her name is Nathalie Forget of Montreal, Quebec, Canada (2-1). Forget last fought on April 17 in Montreal and lost a six-round unanimous decision to Dominga Olivo.
Undefeated Alexandria, VA junior welterweight Todd "White Lightning" Wilson will make his first appearance at the Patriot Center against an opponent to be determined. Wilson (7-0, one KO) is coming off a tough four-round unanimous decision victory over Dontre King on March 20 at Du Burns Arena in Baltimore.
King (2-7-1, one KO) will be on the July 10 card taking on undefeated Juan "The Savior" Rodriguez (4-0, four KO's) in a six-round bout.
Another interesting bout will feature undefeated Chantilly, VA middleweight Zain "The Tiger" Shah (2-0, two KO's) facing DC's Antonio Walls (2-3, one KO) in a four-round contest. Shah stopped Allen Perkins in the first round in his last outing on January 31 at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD. Walls will be trying to break a three-bout losing streak. Walls was stopped in his last outing by Derrick Webster on January 15 in Philadelphia, PA.
Also added to the card will be Nashville, TN middleweight Jonathan "Reid Dawg" Reid, whose last bout was against Lange on September 26. Reid lost by stoppage in the ninth round. Reid (34-12, 19 KO's), who was on "The Contender -- Season One" with Lange, is looking for an opponent for this card.
All other bouts announced previously are still on the card.
Lange vs. LeBlanc is a live fight because of their styles. I would give the edge to Lange based on his conditioning but they are basically the same type of fighter. And to Jimmy's credit, he will be in the same shape for a Jimmy LeBlanc that he would be in if he were fighting for a world title. Never any truth in the rumor that Lange was fighting George Rivera. Nobody ever contacted us. It couldn't happen anyway because George is getting married on that date! Congratulations George!
ReplyDeleteHow do you add a fighter to the card but not have an opponent lined up before doing so??
ReplyDeleteNot a solid enough card for the size of the Patriot's Center. Too many damn "showcase" fights for me. They should have at least had one fight where they pitted two boxers against each other who had nothing to lose. This is worse than most of the cards on ESPN Friday Night Fights.
Thank you for your comment.
ReplyDeletenow if you don't think it's going to be a good night for boxing then keep your tired hind parts home.People get up to fight on these cards and there are alot of upsets on these shows.Look at Lange and the Farmer kid on the
last show.Both very solid fighters
but anything happens when peoples
blood start pumping.I think it will be a good night and guess you will probobly be there anyway
you are just one of those people
who like to get on here and throw all the negative stuff in the game.
Go to the ticket window at the patriot center and tell them that
your a friend of the guy that writes stuff on the boxing website
and I bet they will give you a discount of some kind.
When you do this, how about writing on here and letting us know what they did for you.

How do you add a fighter to the card but not have an opponent lined up before doing so??
ReplyDeleteIt happens all the time. In fact, some of the most spirited Patriot Center bouts and upsets have been against opponents who were originally billed as "TBD."
I'd hardly call Tim Coleman vs. Damien Fuller a "showcase fight." Even though it's the co-main event here, I could definitely see that getting headline status on a televised Tuesday or Friday Night Fight billing.
I've had the pleasure of seeing both in the ring and meeting both out of the ring. And my biggest regret is that one will have to lose on July 10th.
Glad to see white lightning back in action. That boy is a natural.
ReplyDeleteyes he can fight and he is always fun to watch. anymore details on his fight?
ReplyDeleteIm glad to see Zain Shah on this card. That is a tall lean kid with power. He can give people fits.
ReplyDeleteLange-Leblanc 2 years in the making. I am rooting for Jimmy L in this one!
ReplyDeleteHensley is a detriment.
ReplyDeleteIs Joe H still fat?
ReplyDeleteJoe Hensley is going to fill Dave Hollands position when he is transfered to a new position in the state goverment. When Joe takes over will he get Mr Hollands assistant as a secretary.
ReplyDeleteJust think about those long weekends when there are shows in the lower part of the state and it requires staying a couple of nights.
See Joe go
watch Joe BLOW!!!!!!!!!
Then comes Dave Holland busting down the door.
ReplyDeleteJoe Hensley take your hands off that woman, as he flashes his DPOR Badge.
LeBlanc is 3-14-1 in his last 18 fights and has only made it to the 8th round once during that time.
ReplyDeleteHow is a puncher's chance a live fight? I'm going but this is a weak card compared to ones in the past.
