  2. Taylor is managed by Felix Dialosio, I believe. He is a Baltimore based business owner who has promoted boxing cards under the banner of Charm City Promotions.

His father is Maxell Taylor, Sr., who is involved as a trainer and an amateur boxing trainer and judge.

Emmanuel's brother, Maxell "The General" Taylor is preparing to make his comeback to the pro ranks soon. He was a very talented junior middleweight who fought one of the best bouts in Ballroom Boxing history against Derek Ennis a few years ago.

  6. it is amazing that when some fighters in this area fight what we call easy fight some of us say he's developing and then when other fighters fight example wade he's only had 5 pro fights but people say he need to step up, i agree until you get 15-20 fights you are developing no matter how many amerature fights you have you have fought 8,10, or 12 rounds, so with that taylor good job and keep developing

  8. Taylor is young and has had a lot of fights fall out on him. I have heard so much about him the last few years as being a can't miss prospect similar to a Gary Russell, Jr. I saw him fight Doel Carasquillo who is a solid gatekeeper type with a big punch. The fight could have gone either way and Taylor got the decision. No problem with the decision because it was a close fight. I came away from the fight thinking Taylor is a solid pro but he is not anywhere near what I would call a can't miss prospect. I guess I was expecting more speed and more pop on his punches and perhaps I was just expecting too much. He's a good solid guy, he's very young, I'm sure he will continue to improve. As far as the matchup with Cook is concerned this is a tough one. You don't want a fighter to be overmatched as it appears Cook was in this fight. But from Taylor's point of view, he needs numbers, fights, and wins to progress to a certain level so that he can make some money, get on tv, and get a title shot. All fighters need numbers to get to a certain level in this sport. You don't fight for a big payday when you're 5 and 0. 15 and 0 in rare cases but in most cases it's 20 to 30 fights down the line with the overwhelming majority being wins against increasingly stiff competition before you start making real money. And if you lose in a big fight, the big money may stop right then and there and you're right back to making 4 figures (or less) for a fight. Very unforgiving sport boxing is. Anyway, Taylor is only 19 or 20, he's got good skills, and he is in the building phase of his career. I dare say that Maryland wouldn't have approved this matchup and VA probably may have approved it. The "big boxing states" like Nevada and New York wouldn't have approved it but a state like Texas (which is a big boxing state) may have approved it. Most of the southern states would have approved the bout. Hey, Taylor's got a manager with a little bit of money, this is a business, and you take him to where you can fight these type of fights. Get in where you fit in. I'm sure when Taylor makes it to ESPN Teddy Atlas will say, "most of Taylor's fights have been in the South where you can build a record." That's the same Teddy Atlas who has trained many a fighter and brought them down south of the Mason Dixon line. Like I said, get in where you fit in.

  9. how dare you compare taylor to russell! taylor has been boxing for years, won every national tourney you can think of, never ducked anyone and is tough as nails.

  10. Taylor won every national title
    you can think of?
Please fill me in on what he's won and when he won them.

  11. I think what the guy meant to say was how can you compare Taylor to Russell as in they shouldn't even be in the same sentence because Russell won the national titles, been boxing for years, etc.

I stand by what I said about Taylor. I was told how great this kid was, how fast and powerful. I think just expected too much from the kid based on what I had been told. He's pretty good but to me he is no better a prospect than any of our other local guys who still have ties to local promoters. I hate to say this, but damn it, it's true. When the big time outfits see one of our local guys in the amateurs with some talent they scoop them up a la Russell, Jr., The Petersons, Wade, Guerrero, etc. Everyone else, including Taylor at this point, is just a club fighter trying to make it.

  12. There is a lot to the picture for Emanuel to figure out. He is a young man in a mans sport. A few of his assets are his desire to be a student of the sweet science, his heart and his chin. There is no denying that he is entertaining as a boxer. He has a smooth style that once it's polished will be very exciting to watch. His last bid at a title as an amatuer had him as runner up to Dan O'Conner, 2008 US Future Stars National Champion (also given the outstanding boxer award) . A loss by 2 points. Emanuel just turned open that year. He is one of many great local boxers.

  13. Taylor is a "blue chip" prospect for sure. He has an excellent background and he is young and developing.
Whomever said he is just a clubfighter right now has no idea of the meaning of the term.

  14. He is a club fighter just like the rest of the other guys around here. And thats okay bc I like exciting fights from 4 rounders to 12 rounders. If he was legit like Russell for example he wouldnt be fighting around here. Sorry to bust your bubble but thats the way it is.

  15. If Russell is such a prospect, what happened on the big stage,no disrespect,no story has ever been given, then his brother failed on the scale the next day in MO???

  16. why would you ask a question you already know the answer to,if no story was ever given then how do you know what happen on the so call big stage to you...smh

  17. Ray Leonard is the only one to do it. He had Mike Trainer. The other others have people behind them who are as dumb as Odel Montgomery.
