That wasn't a defeat on Willie Jones part it was robbery. If we continue to allow what happen last night too happen no one will want to come and fight our guys. I must admit the Jones kid a bad boy. Keep your head up!
That bout was not a robbery, that was a very close fight which could have went either way. I thought Allen pulled it out he threw more cleaner punches. The bout was a ugly fight a lot of holding.
That was a clear victory for Willie Jones and I don't know how anyone could have honestly given it to Allen (more kids from VA/NC also were robbed during the night). It's frustrating to see the officiating and decision go the way it did. Everyone there seemed shocked when they announced that Allen won. If anything, Allen may have took the first round because he was holding and the official wouldn't break them up (which was a disadvantage for Jones with his much longer reach). People should be ashamed to play this hometown/home region favoritism when the only thing they should be concerned about is making sure that NC/VA/MD/DC actually sends its very best on to compete. It hurts more than just the hardworking boxer that should have won, it hurts the sport. And it doesn't help the kids and young adults who persevere so hard to be robbed and see someone who doesn't deserve it take what they didn't earn. You would think adults would know better.

ReplyDeleteWhat was he holding for?must been tired
ReplyDeleteThe third round was when Allen held the most. That is what makes a ugly fight. Both are good fighters & will probably see each other again.
ReplyDeleteWasn't Willie the 2009 National GG's champ?
