There will be seven Beltway amateurs that will be competing in today's National Silver Gloves Championships Finals in Independence, MO. Here are the results from Friday's competition, courtesy of the blog DC Amateur Boxing:
10/11-year old division
85lbs. Joey Veazey def. Jose Salazar (St. Paul, Minnesota)
95lbs. Keegan Grove def. Dylon Armstrong (Janesville, Wisconsin)
12/13-year old division
75lbs. Jordan White def. Hector Tanajara (San Antonio, Texas)
80lbs. Zimmie Dickinson def. Eric Estrada (Hillsboro, Oregon)
14/15-year old division
100lbs. Aujee Tyler def. Francisci De Vaca (Phoenix, Arizona)
139lbs. Dusty Harrison def. Anthony Sims Jr. (Indianapolis, Indiana)
Kashif Brown is also boxing in today's finals in the 105lbs. 10/11-year old Championship.
Ameer Brown, Mansabory Conde and Brady Sensibaugh lost in today's semifinal. White, Dickinson and Tyler are all defending 2009 National Silver Gloves Champions looking to repeat. Harrison, according to reports, defeated the top amateur trained by the camp of Floyd Mayweather, Jr. The Beltway-area also has one unopposed champion but DC Amateur Boxing did not have the name at press time.
Also Dominic McKnight (10/11 145lbs.) will be boxing in tonight's final. He is from Baltimore (Upton).
