McCalla Wins Unanimous Decision in Fort Washington!

Baltimore junior middleweight Cecil McCalla got off of the canvas to win an eight-round unanimous decision over Suitland, MD's Jayson Champion during the Baltimore Pro Boxing card at Rosecroft Raceway in Fort Washington, MD.

McCalla was doing well until he got caught by a vicious right hand from Champion that dropped him to the canvas. McCalla beat the count at eight.

However, Champion did not follow up on his sudden advantage as he wasn't nearly as active in the later rounds. McCalla is now 10-0, four KO's and Champion falls to 4-5, three KO's.

In the co-feature, Scott "Cujo" Sigmon of Bedford, VA won a six-round majority decision over Ariel "Iron" Espinal of Brooklyn, NY. The bout was an action-packed affair. Sigmon is now 8-1, three KO's while Espinal falls to 6-12-3, two KO's.

DC heavyweight Maurice "Freight Train" Byarm made short work of Maurice "The South Soldier" Winslow, scoring a knockout at 1:48 of the first. Byarm us now 6-0, four KO's while Winslow is now 3-11-1, three KO's.

Ferndale, MD cruiserweight "The American Child" Nick Kisner made a successful pro debut with a four-round majority decision over "The African Warrior" Francois Ambang of Mechanicsville, VA. Ambang falls to 2-5-1.

Springdale, MD heavy Abodurin "Big Bo" Akinyanju remained perfect with a fourth-round TKO over Kevin Howard of Montgomery, AL. Akinyanju is 3-0, three KO's. Howard is 1-3-1.

Chantilly, VA junior middleweight Zain "The Tiger" Shah scored a first-round TKO over Allen "Pit Bull" Perkins of Frederick, MD.

  1. That dude Scott is a joke. Im gonna be the first one to say it tonight. I was up there to support Nick on his pro debut, he did a great job. How the hell is your name Cujo when you punch like a chihuahua? He tried to call out Jesse but I know that Jesse will handle him no problem. I have seen both of them in the ring several times and Scott doesn't live up to the "hype." And I'm not gonna be scared like you other bitches and not post my name. so thats what i have to say. Andrea

Nice job Nick tough first fight. You did well.
Cujo you won and thats great but I believe you bit off more than you can chew challenging Jesse Nicklow.
For that matter calling out Jeter and Paschall.
    Gotta say you have guts.

  4. That Kid Nick Kisner looked good on his Pro Debut, but Man that Kid Cecil McCalla showed TOUGHNESS tonight gettin up from that BIG PUNCH from Jason Champion in the 4th rd. Then on top of that he finished strong in the rest of the rds. to win the Fight! Good Job Cecil McCalla & everyone else that won tonight at the RoseCroft RaceTrack!

  5. scott is a joke he better try ridgeway and then go after jeter or paschal. ihe is a punk with a mouth bigger then anything. how can he think he is any good?

  6. I thought Champion was robbed, he out boxed McCalla all night, plus he landed the bigger shots, terrible decision. The other fight's aren't worth mentioning, except Byarm did have a nice knockout

  11. It's good to see the self proclaimed savior of beltway boxing cleaning up the local scene by narrowly defeating a guy who hasn't had a win in his last 14 fights. Need to put yourself in one of those trash bags for beating up on dead men.

  12. I think every amateur boxer the same weight inside PVA would Cujo out in one round. In fact, I have 2 18 year olds about to turn pro and would love to box Cujo in their first fight.

    ReplyDelete
  13. Tony Jeter spit on Cujo and his sister last night and he did nothing about it.

  14. Jeter did not spit on nobody

  18. Cujo used to date Reggie from Norfolk. Cujo is a very decent guy. He was not running his mouth, he was just selling tickets. Leave the guy alone. He may be a homosexual, but he is a very respectful young man. His family accepts him as he is and so should we.

    ReplyDelete
  19. Really, he barely beat a guy who hasn’t won in his last 14 fights and his last win he weighed 157 lbs. Cujo you should never I mean never show your face up this way after that pitiful showing last night.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Whatever! He still cannot box a lick.

    ReplyDelete
  21. props to kisner to take a hard debut like that and to look as sharp and as impressive as he did. i believe over time kisner will start to settle down more and turn more into a pro and become a very succesful one at that. excellent showing young man congrats to you and your father as everyone was very impressed

  23. The only thing that was classless was that boxing exhibition you put on Scotty. Your time is coming to a end. You bit off way more than you can chew.

  24. Cujo put in a good performance last night against a very, very tough guy. I thought Cujo won 5 out of 6 rounds just like John Gradowski did. Malik Walid, who is one of the very best judge/referees around had it at 4 rounds to 2 for Cujo and that was the very worst the fight could have been scored. As for 57 to 57 from judge Don Risher, there is no way that was possible. Most people thought Cujo won 6 to zip, and there were a few 5 to 1's and 4 to 2's sprinkled in there. But 3 to 3? Very, very questionable scorecard. But hey, the right guy got the decision and that's all that really counts. Throw out Ariel Espinal's record, he's extremely tough and he's all fighter, unlike that loudmouth punk Tony Jeter (way to wear your hat backwards Jeter, aren't you like 33? Hell, you're probably still playing video games) who would surely never get in the ring with a fighter like Espinal. Listen, this is America, and Tony Jeter can yell and scream at us all he wants to, I don't have a problem with it. As soon as I got in the ring Jeter started yelling at me. I went over to him and said, "Hey Tony, how come you're not fighting tonight? Oh wait, I know the answer to that one, they couldn't find a guy lame enough for you to knock out so you could run and jump on the ropes and thump your chest like you're a bad motherfu*ker and act like you had all this devastating knockout power." Jeter knows we tried to make that fight at least 4 times and he backed out of it every time. He wants to yell at Cujo when he's fighting and criticize Cujo's technique and all that. But it's a different ball game when you're in the ring with him and if Jeter does ever get in the ring with Cujo I can guarantee you that Jeter will never make it to the final bell. It just depends on the amount of ass whipping Jeter wants to take from Cujo. I would say Jeter could only take about a 4 round ass whipping and take the coward's way out and quit on his stool between the 4th and the 5th round. If he comes out for any more than that, Cujo would definitely end Jeter's career and you would never see Tony "The Bed Wetter" Jeter in the confines of the squared circle again. Cujo will retire him. He'll wreck him. And in Tony Jeter's case, it's definitely trash day and Cujo will definitely take out the trash and that's something that's personal for me and personal for Cujo. Tony Jeter is a grade A douche bag! Anytime, anywhere, anyplace PUNK!

    Thanks,

    Joe H

Really? A good performance....look you can sling insults all you want in your 5 paragraph filibustering long winded postings, like some blogging savant. But fact of the matter is I have seen both guys (jeter and cujo) fight and if this fight does happen...I see cujo getting slept.

  28. Wow this is some good back and forth. The only way to settle it is get it on! Its my understanding that this fight has been talked about and attempts to make it happen have failed for whatever the reasons. Sounds like there is some genuine dislike. Guys make it happen. If you do want to fight each other money or location shouldn't be an issue, and if they are confident enough in themselves have a winner take all purse!

I for one would make the journey to watch.

  30. Dear Joe and Cujo,

How come you two want to talk about Jeter avoiding you guys, but you never want to reply about you two ducking me! I came to your house and called you out. You had me fooled thinking you were actually man enough to back up your talk, but I was wrong you tucked your tail and avoided any talks of the two of us fighting. i thought you were fighting at super middleweight? I guess that was just another lie to avoid having a real fight. I am once again calling you out, and I will say the same thing I did in front of your home town. It is time to put up or shut up little boy! I will fight you in Lynchburg, D.C., Baltimore, or anywhere else. Come on tough guy show me how big of a bad ass you are, because you are nothing.

  31. Cujo is not a homosexual. There is huge difference between a homosexual and a bisexual. Cujo can still whip Jeters ass on any given night. Joe Hensley said so and he is a real professional

  41. Well Scott is fighting Jessie Nicklow apparently. I know there has been call outs, but Justin Ridgeway makes no sense for Sigmon on any level.

    ReplyDelete
  42. I dont no what Fight you was watching, Cecil McCalla won every rd except the 4th rd. when he got dropped, but he showed alot of TOUGHNESS but gettin up & finishing the Fight strong! Thats what champions are built from, over come ADVERSITY & Cecil did that! He landed more Punches every round than Jason Champion, Champion only won the 4th rd cause of the Knockdown! Congrads to Cecil McCalla for showing Heart & Determanation & pulling out the victory at RoseCroft RaceTrack!

    ReplyDelete
  43. it makes sense for sigmon to fight ridgeway, because he talked shit on ridgeway's wife and then ridgeway called him out in front of his hometown.. don't be a bitch cujo! keep your word. and to brian ridgeway can fight and it would be great to see him get cujo. there would not be anything left of ssigmon at the end of the fight.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I don't doubt justin can fight, but he is 1-0 Sigmon is 8-1, where is the logic?

  47. What does the heavyweight division in the DMV area look like

    ReplyDelete
  48. Gentlemen,

I have proved my point that Cujo and Joe are no better then what they have been accusing Tony and everyone else of being. They agreed to fight me in front of their fans, so he wouldn't look like the coward he really is. I normally would think that I wasted 8 hours of my time to drive from New Jersey down to meet Mr. Farmer to go shut up a foul mouth punk kid. When actually I am glad I did it. I would have been much happier had he actually attempted to back up his talk. Like we all know talk is cheap and unlike boxing Cujo is very good at it. There wouldn't be much logic in Cujo fighting me. It would devastate him and Joe after I knocked him out, but with that being said, there is as much logic if not more in me fighting Cujo then Rivera fighting Lange. We all know how JOe came on here and talked al his trash on Jimmy about Jimmy avoiding Rivera, but yet it is him and Cujo who agreed to a fight and backed out. They are trying to get Cujo a fight on tv so they can go back to LYnchburg win or lose and try to profit on it. I understand the business side to it all, but I don't respect either of them since they agreed to fight me and are yet to do it. They both are bold face liars who couldn't fight their way out of a wet paper bag. I will moving back to Virginia within the next two months and will be fighting everyone of Cujo's opponents in order to force him into a fight with me.

  50. Champion won that fight, true McCalla was the busier fighter, but Champion landed the harder more cleaner punches, I thought Champion was the better boxer

    ReplyDelete
  51. Joe, Is he really that tough? It looked like he was hurt twice with the two punches Espinal threw. What is going to happen when he gets hit by a puncher and he will get hit as he has no defense? That fight was hand picked for Scott and he still look like shit. What is going to happen when he does fight a live body?

  53. "What does the heavyweight division in the DMV area look like"
    I think that's a good question...

Besides Tony T and now Darnell (now moving up to heavy) there are no other prominent names we could consider active. Seth Mitchell seems to be a legit prospect.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Asim is right. We have a youth movement with the heavyweight division along the Beltway, even with Seth Mitchell who is only in his third year as a pro.

The rest are very young but look very promising. Maurice Byarm had a nice victory on this card. Abodurin "Big Bo" Akinyanju is still young but has a lot of promise and a solid amateur background.

"The Big Ticket" Dwayne McRae has to be considered a question mark because he has suffered losses in two of his last four fights. He is slated to be on the March 6 card and really needs an impressive win.

There is talk that Horace "The Reason" Grant is getting back in the gym and Scott "Duke" Buchanan is undefeated but has been more of a trainer than a boxer.

    ReplyDelete
  55. How u figure Champion was the better Boxer & he couldnt hit Cecil, he barely punch Cecil the 1st 3 rds & he Damn sure didnt throw more Punches than Cecil, he was just looking for the Knock Out punch, Cecil punched champion at will whenever he wanted too & he stayed busy! Plus Cecil SPEED gave Jason problems! But u are entitled to ya own opinion, but the Judges thought different & saw that Cecil out Boxed Champion dispite the knock down! What Cecil McCalla showed the World on Sunday was DESIRE, something that NO TRAINER can teach!

    ReplyDelete
  56. who is justin ridgeway? never heard of him honestly. just hear how he is from virginia and beat a guy 0-5 n his debut. any amatuer background or anything? i mean its kinda riicoulous to talk bout this guy like he is a prospect. any national resume at all. i mean come on. listen to yourselves. people laugh at you all. let justin ridgeway fight against james stevenson or toris brewer or even keith gross. this is a joke

    ReplyDelete
  57. let him fight gross or brewer that isn't much of a challenge. tony jeter stopped gross in one round and toris brewer was beat by scott sigmon, also justin is a light heavyweight anyway. doesn't make sense to say match him with james.

    ReplyDelete
  58. ok but ridgeway hasnt proven that he is a good fighter. he has no amatuer background and only one pro fight where he fought a guy 0-7. so therefore let him fight keith gross. if you ask me keith gross has more of a resume then ridgeway. gross at least had some amatuer experience and has foughten guys like jeter and big time prospect erislandi lara. what makes ridgeway so important that he can skip over guys like gross who have fought the competition. the only guy that ridgeway has beaten is aughtry who keith gross has beaten to. and at least gross has foughten more people to. ridgeway the way you all act is this guy that has already proven himself. he beat a guy that hasnt won once in 8 fights and the guys only no contest he lost to. ridgeway is not that important wake up and see that. so let him fight gross and we'll see what goes on from there. and you say he is a light heavy. ok then let him fight francois ambang who is 2-5-1 who is a very tough guy. and we'll see where ridgeway stands from there

    ReplyDelete
  59. Sigmon wants to call out Jessie and Tony both whom are JR middle weight/middle weights.Sigmon is a light heavy also but hes calling out guys far below the 172 lbs he weighed for his last bout. Such hypocrites and Toris Brewer had never fought one guy with a winning record! Those are fact's.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Keith Gross would beat Sigmon. Pete Guthy would beat Sigmon.

    ReplyDelete
  61. I have no problem fighting Keith Gross! I obivously have a problem with Cujo over the fact he ran his mouth on my wife. I will fight whoever I get a fight with, but I figured since Cjo said he wanted to fight me and I want to fight him we should fight. I am moving on to people who really want to fight. I do not want to fight guys who are not going to propel me into the right direction of rankings. I prefer to go out and challenge myself.

    ReplyDelete
  62. please dont tell me your that dumb. its not a ego thing hear ridgeway think smart. so be 1-0 and call out sigmon just cause he talked to your wife like that? sigmon will beat you right now. and im not frineds with either of you im just being honest. get more eperience then fight him. you wont last long with your ego problem trust me. you have to think smart. and i understand you want to challenge yourself. but what makes you wanna do it right now. why do you have to do it right now? get more experience then challenge yourself and most likely youll get further in the game everyone take nted this is how young guys get beat early in thier carrer making very stupd choices at the wrong time for the stupidest reasons. uhh uhh uhh

    ReplyDelete
  63. Congrats to Byarm. I felt he was the best fight of the night. Pretty impressive fighter.Watch out for this young heavyweight with his career, it's only the beginning

    ReplyDelete
  66. I thought he was so DAMN tough. Did you ever notice he Scott looks like Sloth from the Gonnies.

  67. Update: Tony Jeter turned Cujo down again! Despite all of Jeter's antics during Cujo's fight on Sunday night "Give me the contract Joe, I'll sign the contract now Joe!" Jeter has said he can't get ready for a fight with Cujo until May and that he needs to take a tune up fight in April to get ready for Cujo. The end of May is ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY DAYS away! Now does that sound like Jeter wants to fight Cujo? You can yell and scream at Cujo all you want and say how bad he is and how he's the worst thing ever, but Tony Jeter knows what he's in for if he ever gets in the ring with Cujo and that's a good old fashioned, justified ass whippin!

    Thanks,

  68. First off let me start out by saying that everything I have ever posted on this site has been the 100% god’s honest truth. There may have been a time when I was young and a complete scumbag who stole people’s wallets out of their gym lockers while they were in class. But I have grown up and boy have I grown and by grown of course I mean I have eaten myself into the fat scumbag I am today. Speaking of fat, I see someone on here posted something commenting about my recent gastric bypass surgery. Listen punk without that surgery I would have surely died in the next 2-3 years of a heart attack and being the fat lazy piece of pond scum that I am I would never have been able to do what a real man would have done (eaten less and actually worked out something besides my mouth and typing fingers) so I got my stomach stapled…so f-you for judging me. I did what I thought I had to do to prolong my pathetic life of hugging Cujo’s nuts. Oh and speaking of gobbling Scotts scotum…all this talk about him being romantically linked to this Reggie character is complete rubbish….well okay maybe there was that one time threesome between Reggie, My rabid Chihuahua and myself. But that’s it and there has been no further contact.

I seem to have gotten way off subject. Back to boxing or more importantly Scott “Cujo” Sigmons boxing career and his willingness to fight anyone/anywhere (as long as they are handpicked dead men). We still stand by that…it’s as true as it was the day I dreamt up the fact that I have any talent at anything other than building hype for a joke of a fighter. And truth be told we wait patiently hoping that our challenges to Jesse Nicklow and Tony Jeter remain unanswered because deep down both Cujo and I are scared shitless to fight either of those two warriors.

    Thanks

    Joe H.

    ReplyDelete
  72. its obvious hensleys hatred for jeter is fueling this grudge match and since hensley can't fight he is amping cujo up unfortunately for cujo jeter is just a better boxer than cujo plain and simple cujo only has one chance and thats close his eyes start swinging and hop soemthing lands on the right spot otherwise let it go i thought jeter had a commitment already for april maybe thats why he is saying its gonna have to wait

    ReplyDelete
  73. yeah good point i read tony is supposed to be fighting in april. so joe if you are so hell bent on fighting tony fight him in may i don't know what the problem is you offered he counter offered. now your pantied are all in a bunch cause somebody told you no fact is if cujo had half a brain and was capable of telling you no he would be on your shit list as well. so you have a tentative date set, now shit or get off the pot big boy.

trying to convince everybody that this clown Sigmon would be an easy win for you so man up and fight him (NOW) or shut your pie hole.

Joe used to skip gym class and sneak into the locker room, pry open lockers and steal wallets. He stole my wallet, which had $100 in it. Hensley got caught with a stash of wallets in his school locker, over 50 of them, one of them mine. Joe is as bad as they come. Don't trust anything he says or does.

  79. Cujo and Joe, you have called Mark Tucker out in the past via your MySpace. Then you went to a Jessie Nicklow and then back to Tony Jeter. You called Jessie out again this Sunday in the ring as you pulled your trash bag out. Now it’s back to Tony Jeter who has had a date scheduled already. So my question to you and Joe is out of the three people that you called out Mark, Tony, Jessie and one of them already has a date who are you going to fight? Joe????

LOL!!!!! Tucker would DEMOLISH I repeat DEMOLISH Cujo. Cujo is garbage there is nothing more than hype around him. Tucker has already beaten far tougher guys than him. Jeter-Cujo needs to happen though because all of the people around here consider it a good fight.

The loser of that one might as well hang em up.

  84. Tony Jeter is fighting in DC in April. His opponent is yet undetermined. He has given his word to the promoter he will fight. Whether its May,July,or August Cujo and Jeter should get it on. The time can be used wisely to sharpen skills and to further hype the fight.

No prediction but it will be a quick one. Although i will be routing for someone.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Sounds to me like Jeter will take the fight but on his terms and Joe wants the fight on his terms joe you have been begging and pleading for this fight to occur now he has accepted so get it together. You guys just want to get publicity. You call guys out thinking they won't accept then when they do you move on to somebody else. Case in point.

Called out by Cujo then you made several slanderous remarks about him and his family of all things. You accepted Ridgways challenge only for the fight to never come to fruition because you didn't really want to fight him you just wanted him off your back.

Then Nicklow, who by the way is several weight classes below Cujo accepts your challenge now I garauntee that fight never happens, because you really don't want to fight him.

Then you move to Jeter who says okay lets make it May then you come on and make this false claim that he turned down another fight. When he didn't you just don't want to fight him.

  87. Brian,

Tony Jeter does not want to fight Cujo and it is obvious. Talking all that crap at ringside (and yes I said more than my fair share back to him and on this site as well) while Cujo is fighting, yelling in front of his boys, saying "Give me the contract Joe, I'll sign it now!" - That's just all posturing and BS. Jesse Nicklow is a real fighter and he called me on Sunday night after the fight and said let's do it. We all know that Jesse Nicklow is a far tougher fight than Tony Jeter and I would much rather have Cujo fight the Bed Wetter first and then fight Nicklow but it looks like it's going to be the other way around. That bout should happen within the next 6 weeks. Cujo will win the fight with Nicklow, it won't be easy because Jesse is a warrior, but Cujo will win. And odds are, Tony Jeter will find another way to avoid Cujo. Jeter doesn't want any part of Cujo now, much less Cujo with a win over Nicklow. And Brian, are you saying that Jeter's fight in DC is going to be a quick one or are you saying that Jeter vs. Cujo will be a quick one? If you're saying Jeter vs. Cujo will be a quick one you're damn well wrong about that one because, and you can mark my words on this one - THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL that Jeter can knock Cujo out! And Cujo is not going to stop Jeter early either, he's going to beat on him for as long as Jeter is willing to take the ass whipping. I've said it before, Jeter will probably quit on his stool because he'll look for the easy way out, but if he does come out say for the 4th or 5th round on, he's going to get pummeled beyond recognition. But he can't take that kind of ass whipping, he doesn't have it in him for that type of fight. He just wants to wear his hat backwards and play stupid video games and knock out some homeless crackhead and pretend he's Mike Tyson and say I've stolen wallets and I've had this surgery (all of which is untrue) and blah, blah, blah. All right, look for the details of Cujo vs. Nicklow soon and don't expect any trash talk from me about Nicklow because he's never done anything to me and we have respect for him unlike that low life punk Tony "The Bed Wetter" Jeter.

    Thanks,

    Joe H

  97. Everybody needs to shut up about this kid Sigmon. He doesn't want to fight anybody. He is all talk. He has called out Jeter, Nicklow, ucker, and Ridgway. He said he would fight Ridgeway, and backed out, so why would he fight someone else. He is looking for attention. I really thin he would fight nicklow due to the mere size difference. He is a bully and has been called on his bluf by someone his own size. Keep talking because no one is mistening to you or Joe anymore. Please guys ignore this kid who can not fight, talk, or count right. You all are above this stuff. Don't let trailer park trash like Sigmon drag you down. Promoters lok at guys who do all this and laugh at you guys. Let your fist do the talking and you all will be much happier.

  105. I've had some experience but none as a pro. Listen, I know where this is headed and that's okay with me. In fact I would welcome it. I know the history of boxing and I know that boxing came about in Europe as a way for men to settle their disputes. It was an alternative to dueling with a gun in which one participant would invariably be killed or permanently injured. It's just like I told Tony Jeter on Sunday, the only thing that kept us from going at it then was the possibility of me getting in trouble. There is no, and I repeat, absolutely no fear on my part whatsoever about fighting him. As some of you have noted, I have recently lost a little bit of weight. I'll need to continue getting in shape because, and I promise you, I will take this with 100% seriousness -- I will get in the absolute best shape of my life and put this guy right in his place where he belongs. I'm not going to respond to any more comments about this because I'm sure it will be open season once again and many of you will think this is a joke. But I am a very prideful man, I am far from a punk, and I'm certainly not a coward like Tony Jeter.

    Sincerely,

    Joe Hensley

I GET WHAT YOU SAYING ABOUT NOT GETTING IN TROUBLE BUT DON'T TALK THAT BLEEP UNLESS YOU CAN BACK IT UP TROUBLE OR NOT. IF YOU HAVE NO INTENTION OF DOING IT DON'T SAY IT.

THERE IS NO WAY YOU ARE FIGHTING TONY FOR ONE IF IT HAPPENED ON THE STREETS OR IN THE RING HE WOULD TAKE YOUR LIFE, AND TWO NO COMMISSION WOULD ALLOW A 75 YEAR OLD FAT MAN WITH STAPLES AND A COLOSCOPY BAG TO FIGHT A 32 YEAR OLD WITH OVER 100 FIGHTS. JOE YOU REALLY NEED TO SHUT THE BLEEP UP AND GET BACK TO TENDING TO CUJO'S NUTS AND YOUR ILLUSTRIOUS COCK FIGHTING CAREER

I have a more reasonable challenge for you. I am a 45 year old ex-amateur boxer with 12 fights and a good friend of Tony Jeter. Fight me big mouth I will shut you up for good. I am tired of seeing you rant and rave about Cujo. The poor guy really believes all the hype about himself. Your gonna get him hurt.

  112. I am a boxing fan, but by no means an expert or even smart on boxing. That being said, I am well educated, both in the class room and in the streets.

Taking a step back and reading this blog, I am amazed that anyone would consider buying a ticket to an event put on by this Joe Hensley. On all levels, he insults our sport and intelligence. Boxing, I'm told, is the "sweet science," not professional wrestling. Hensley's Lou Albano schtick is offensive in so many ways.

Like all sports and organizations, boxing needs respected leaders who advance the stature of the sport and the reputations of all involved, including promoters, managers, trainers and, most importantly, fighters.

I follow Gary's blog primarily to get to know the area boxers. I am rooting for these men to break out of obscurity and make it big nationally and internationally. To me, a decent man or woman as promoter in this area should always act in a way that brings more respect to ALL of the fighters on his or her card. To call a fighter a bed wetter, make fun of a boxer's father and physically threaten a fighter is unthinkable. If it is true Hensley is prancing around, shooting his mouth off about stepping into the ring, this is the ultimate insult. What is he saying about the talent and skill level of our boxers? That he can cram into 6 months the hard work of a good boxer over a lifetime? That's not respect for the sport.

Is this the type of man we want leading our sport, mentoring our sons and being responsible for building the reputation and earning power of our area boxers? Is this how Gene Upshaw did business as director of the NFLPA? Abe Pollin as owner of the Bullets/Wizards?

Consider staying away from Hensley's shows until he demonstrates he is worthy of leading our young men and has apologized publicly on Gary's blog for trying to tear us down, when he should be building us up.

    ReplyDelete
  113. All this FOOLISHNESS for makes me want to get involved in the area's boxing scenes even more. You guys are hilarious. I need to go to a show and see all this happening. I am a screenwriter as well. I could possibly come away with jokes for my next movie from watching you guys.

    LMAO.

  114. "William Gagnon said...
I am a boxing fan, but by no means an expert or even smart on boxing. That being said, I am well educated, both in the class room and in the streets."

Let me fill you in then "William Gagnon" because your a johnny come lately. Everybody hates Tony Jeter not just Hensley he just has the balls to sign his name and that makes him a target for someone out of the loop like you. Who do you think is writing all that mess about staples and surgeries? Its Jeter thats who. Hensley has everyones respect around here believe that. He calls him the bed wetter because his nickname is mo better (see the rhyme). Jeter challenged Hensley to a fight at Rosecroft and Hensley responded publicly on this site. Hensley didnt threaten Jeter and he said he'll take him up on his offer. Jeter is the jackass and everyone around here knows it. And what was this mess about the guys father? Nobody ever said anything about that.

    ReplyDelete
  115. But you didn't answer my question.

Is this the type of man we want leading our sport, mentoring our sons and being responsible for building the reputation and earning power of our area boxers?

    ReplyDelete
  116. I dont call it violence when its self defense I call it intelligence. Who said he was a leader anyway? Hes a promoter which by definition means hes a person or organization that stages an entertainment or an athletic or other public event and tries to make money. William Gagnon you say your educated and have street smarts and your falling for this gag? You may be the stupidest sumbitch on here.

    ReplyDelete
  117. I think what Mr Gagnon was attempting to illustrate is the characteristics displayed by a man of distinction, intelligence, and class versus Joe Hensley who has shown to be the complete antithesis.

A man in Hensley's position needs to exude intelligence, professionalism, and most importantly restraint. He pointed out several sports executives who knew their place and operated above board. I don't know Hensley outside a few by chance meetings and my opinion of him is primarily based on this blog as well as the way he has acted in public. From the outside looking in he appears to be obsessed with himself and nothing more. Hensley has not only made himself look bad but he has also made his stable look bad by dragging them into his personal rifts. Cujo being a sub par talent at best calling out fighters and not stepping up when called out himself significantly tarnishes his reputation, and I am sure this was done at the coaxing of Hensley.

For Hensley to sully the reputation of the profession of promoting as a whole by proclaiming he was going to make a run at a professional fighter once again a move thats indicative of Hensleys lack of maturity.
At the end of the day I do not know how anybody can deal with such an ego every day. There are plenty of people I dislike however I would never utilize a public forum to "air" my differences. I also never have attended medical school nor would I proclaim with confidence I could do their job with only a few months training as Hensley has professed he could with boxing.

Hensley best bet leave the boxing to the professionals And the question remains is this the man you want leading your charge?

    ReplyDelete
  118. You have low expectations -- I truly feel sorry for you.

    ReplyDelete
  119. You know what's a gag? Calling Tony Jeter and professional fighter, that's a gag!

    ReplyDelete
  120. I feel sorry for you too. Shouldn't we want the best for our area boxers?

    ReplyDelete
  121. Hey Gagnon,

You should eat healthy so why dont you GAG on deez nutz!

    ReplyDelete
  122. see, heres the thing. William Gagnon is a faker and a poser. Thats not his real name. Hes taking shots at Hensley because Hensley signs his real name. Think about it. If Hensley put the same exact posts up and signed them anon Gagnon wouldnt have said shit! So whos really to blame? Hensley because he signs his name and says whats on his mind or some fake ass arrogant dickwad whos trying to put him down, who doesnt know any of the facts, and is just trying to break somebody down. And no, this is not Joe Hensley that wrote this.

    ReplyDelete
  123. Name calling is a sign of insecurity for sure. I hope you find the inner strength to build your confidence. I'll leave you be as you are better off alone.

    ReplyDelete
  124. I see no 5 paragraph response by Mr.Hensley to my challenge. I know I'm nobody in his eyes but I would shut his mouth as far as him making challenges to real pro fighters like Tony Jeter. Saying he would fight Tony Jeter was a brave thing knowing it would never happen.

    ReplyDelete
  125. yeah joe there you go a true challenge

    ReplyDelete
  126. Mike D,

You really don't have anything to do with this, this is personal between me and Jeter. He was the one that said he wanted to fight me and I told him I'll fight him. With that said, you just being a friend of his is enough for you to get on the wrong side of me. That really tells me something about your character hanging with a guy like that. Don't forget, Tony Jeter is the same guy that told me when I handled the matchmaking for a show he was fighting on (and promoted) that quote: "Tell the guy I'm fighting the contract weight will be 160 and I'll just come in at 163 or 164." In other words, he wasn't even going to try to make weight. He wanted the other guy to work it off but he wanted to be devious about it on his end and have a weight advantage(even over a guy who couldn't fight a lick to begin with). Keep in mind that Jeter turned down guys like John Terry and Don Shrock who were something like 2 and 12 at the time because he didn't want a "tough fight". He turned down over 20 guys total before we finally got someone that the commissioner would even approve. Jeter also told me, "Give me somebody I can hurt that I can knockout real bad and put in the hospital. I want a devastating knockout so I can sell more sponsorships." Now does that sound like a fighter to you or does that sound like a cowardly piece of shit? Now I hope you know that I am serious about fighting him because he's an abomination to the sport and he's offensive to me, and has offended me, personally. As for you, I'll take you up on that offer sometime in the spring. We should be able to do it on an amateur show in the Master's Division. You're 45 and I'm 40. Jeter is almost 35 so there isn't that much difference in age between any of us. And that fight doesn't have to be sanctioned (the Jeter fight), it could just be me and him and that's it. I'm done posting about this Mike D, you better get to training and come spring time we'll go at it.

    Thanks,

    Joe Hensley

    ReplyDelete
  127. After reading Hensley's last post, I wonder what his redeeming quality is. Intelligence? Professionalism? Diplomacy? Respect? Dignity? Honor? Tact? Compassion? He has none of these. The last one is most troubling. Does Hensley really care about his fighters? No. He cares about himself. If you think he cares, you have been duped. If you can't make him enough money he doesn't care about you. If you are in his stable, you won't go far. Hensley's games are pocket pool -- you'll never go far with him as one of the main hands behind you. There is not a seat at the table with the big, respected guys for Hensley. They don't let guys that play patty-cake like Hensley in the inner circle. If you don't distance yourself from him now, it's only a matter of time if you want to be taken seriously and want to be the best you can be.

    ReplyDelete
  128. Joe you are so dam funny.

    ReplyDelete
  129. William Gagnon,

Why don't you write your real name when you're taking defaming shots at me? I've got a really good idea of who you are anyway. A good friend of mine, who is probably a hell of a lot smarter than me, told me to stop signing my name to my posts because it was going to make me a target and make me look like a bad guy. From my point of view, I'm just telling you how I feel and I have the courage and the backbone to sign my real name unlike you or Jeter. Lining my pockets, that's a good one. I've lost over $150,000 since I've been involved in boxing. If I make a $2,000 profit on a show, it's a good show, so money has absolutely zero to do with it. I care about all of my fighters like they were my own sons. And when my fighters fight on other promoter's shows, I rarely make any money from them. I negotiate their contracts, I book their fights, I work on all of those details and I usually make no money at all. I've had issues with Tony Jeter for a while now and this past Sunday he said that he wanted to fight me in a way that was meant to be menacing to me. I wasn't scared then and I am not scared now. And as I said before, the only thing that kept me from going at it with him on Jan. 31st was the strong possibility of getting in trouble or getting arrested. There was no security to speak of. Nobody would have kept us apart. Tony Jeter ran his mouth, as is his right to do so in my opinion, for half the fight until Pat Pannella made him take a seat. As I said before, boxing became popular in Europe as a way to settle disputes and as a viable alternative to dueling. I don't want any legal trouble so I feel that what I am proposing is the only viable way this thing can come to a conclusion. Simple as that. You're trying to spin this thing in to a direction that I will not let it go. You're way off base, you're being disingenious by using a fake name, and I'm not going to respond to you anymore. I've got my pride and I will defend it. If Tony Jeter or his cronie Mike D want me, they can have me. I just need a little time to get ready.

    Thanks,

    Joe Hensley

  131. I understand that promoters puff, that is, blow things out of proportion some to make the sale. You, Hensley, are way beyond that -- you are a liar. Consider my posts. They are meant to help you. Be more professional and things will start to go your way. You will begin to climb out of debt and, more importantly, give your boxers the chance to move beyond this region and be the best that they can be.

    ReplyDelete
  132. This Hensley is a clever character. Sometimes he signs his name, other times he does not. Interesting. My main mission on this site is to help Hensley become more professional. If Hensley shows restraint and acts professional, there will be no need for me to post. If he act immature, I'll jump in and coach him. I'm here to stay.

    ReplyDelete
  133. I hope Gagnon can help Joe. Joe is not a bad guy when you get down to it, but I agree that his unprofessional antics are holding him and his boxers back.

    ReplyDelete
  134. I like this Gagnon. His points make sense about the whole scene being about the boxers and no one else. That we should be doing everything that we can as a group to build up our fighters. I don't like it when Joe tries to put the attention on himself. It takes away from the fighters. One of my business partners is a big insider in the NYC boxing scene and tells me that we are viewed as the Mickey Mouse Club down here with all this low-level drama. Our boxers are respected though. We have a lot of talent here and the talent is on the rise again.

    ReplyDelete
  135. Mr. Hensley I was not aware of not being able to fight a Masters fight if you have more than 10 fights.I don't make empty challenges. We can do this in the spring thats fine. I'm always in shape and ready to go.
You fighting Jeter is ridiculous. He is a pro with 11 fights and he had over 100 amateur fights. What are you smoking?
You may think thats brave or admirable but I thinks its crazy. More power to you. Make sure your life insurance is paid up.

  137. Here is a new post from a new poster. No one will drag me into a mudslinging match. My name is Andre "Da Heat" Hemphill. I am a journeyman fighter from the Philadelphia area & I lived for awhile in the beltway area, Woodbridge to be exact. This is an open challenge to Scott Sigmon. I can beat this guy. My record is 8 - 14 - 2. I pride myself on taking on anyone at anytime & my record shows that. I was recently offered a fight against Sigmon & then his people turned it down. I keep up with this blog & have seen how he calls out all of the guys who are 2 & 3 weight classes below him & I just don't get it. If you are a real contender, then fight me. I am a true gatekeeper & will give you a good test as I did Mark Tucker. Tucker is a great fighter by the way. The matchmaker has my number. I will be waiting for your call. Although I will look on the blog for a response, there is really no need. This is my challenge. Hopefully, everyone along the beltway will see it & we can make a great fight, a fight in which I will DEFINATELY KNOCK YOU OUT!

One more thing, I can sell tickets in VA as well as up here in PA so promoters please be aware.

Sigmon, come on man. Let's do this. Anytime, anywhere, even winner take all! You want a real fight, here it is!

    Sincerely & respectfully,

    Da Heat

THAT'S SOMETHING THAT WILL BE HARD TO IGNORE!!!

  141. Hey Dre'! Hit me up when you can.
BTW- from what I understand, a fight against Otgonbayar Daivii was turned down by Sigmon.
If so, its unfortunate because I think that would be a competitive bout.

  142. sigmon does not want to fight anybody with a chance or near his weight. its a joke that people even listen to these fool. joe you are becoming clown with your threats and your rants.

    ReplyDelete
  143. I like, Joe H. as a person, but I have to agree with most of these posts. He has to be more professional. He's turning boxing into a three ring circus. It's not good for local boxing. Area boxing has to be taken seriously. I think outsiders are laughing at us and Joe is hurting our cause.

    ReplyDelete
  144. joe what happened top all your rants... your boy and you have been called out.

    ReplyDelete
  145. joe,

why have you and scott done this to youselves? everyone looks at you two as a joke. you have called out people and accepted fights, and yet to produce anybody. you guys are scared of ridgeway, and you expect people to even consider your guy a real fighter? when he talks trash accepts fights and then shuts his mouth thinking that if neither of you mention it it will all be forgotten? you guys ahve a list of people waiting to get that ass!

    your friend

    ReplyDelete
  146. Joe Hensley is a bottom feeder and will always be a botton feeder unless he shows more respect for the sport and becomes more professional and reserved. I do want Hensley to succeed, but he has to change.

    ReplyDelete
  147. Joe is a thief and it is a known fact that he has ripped fighters off in the past.

    ReplyDelete
  148. I really don't want to make a lot of comments on this except the following.

    1. This post has gone a lot farther than it should when it concerns more about Joe Hensley than it does about the card that took place, which was a good one.

    2. I'm glad Andre Hemphill -- a legitimate boxer -- threw down a very respectful and professional challenge to Sigmon. It's up to Joe and Scott to accept that. A bout with Otganbayer Daivii would also be a good bout for the area.

    3. Those of you who keep saying "it's a known fact" that Joe has robbed boxers better be ready to show some proof here. These baseless allegations from scared anonymous people are just plain ridiculous. You got proof? My email is beltwayboxing@hotmail.com.

I am trying very hard to find some more news to post so this thread can drop from the first page of the blog. Maybe then we can move on from this.

    ReplyDelete
  149. Well Gary I agree but it seems anytime there is news regarding Cujo it just breeds a bunch of negativity now whether it is justified or not is one thing however I definitely can see how this has run its course in your eyes. What I also was wondering Gary is how do you think this three ring circus is looked at from individuals whom may visit the site from other areas? Do you think they veiw it as though the beltway is full of clowns or do you think it is viewed as baseless bantor that carries no true account of the beltway boxing community?

    ReplyDelete
  150. I think it's more the latter comment about baseless banter than anything else. People know the type of talent we have here, especially those who live outside the Beltway region.

One of the main purposes of this blog was to inform people who LIVE here about the boxing talent we have, because the mainstream media was not going to do it.

The one positive that can be taken from this is that the passion that Beltway Boxing fans have for this sport has continually shown through even if it hasn't been in the most elequent manner.

    ReplyDelete
  151. If you guys think that was DA HEAT then I've got some ocean front property in Arizona for you. Some dumb mfer's on this site, I tell ya.

    ReplyDelete
  152. Well said, Gary, thank you. I think we will see Hensley scurry back into his rat hole and stay there for awhile.

    ReplyDelete
  153. Do you think Joey will follow Gagnon's advice?

    ReplyDelete
  154. Meant to say Joe Hensley is white tailor park trash

    ReplyDelete
  155. Where are you Joe?
    I'm still here.

    ReplyDelete
  156. Mike D.,

I realize that I overstepped some with my posts on this thread. I am trying to show restraint and will not be posting on Gary's site in such a manner any more. Any posts by me moving forward will be very professional and above board.

I will not be stepping into the ring. In hindsight, I see getting into all that was not the right thing to do.

    I apologize to all.

    Thanks,

    Joe Hensley

  161. Mr. Hensley don't listen to people telling you your wrong and overstepping your bounds. If that is what you believe fine or is it just a case of not being able to backup your mouth and finally realizing the fact. Either way is fine. Then I guess the subject is closed.

  162. "Mike D.,

    I apologize to all."
