Undefeated Eldersburg, MD light heavyweight Mark "TNT" Tucker continues to receive solid reviews from people in the boxing world.
Over the weekend, two-time world champion and current WBO Junior Middleweight champion Paul "The Punisher" Williams was in Westminster, MD to see Tucker win his 10th pro bout -- an eight-round unanimous decision over Andre Hemphill. Here's what he told Aaron Wilson of the Carroll County Times:
“Mark is doing good for himself. “I took that same road. I think this is the hardest time when you’re up and coming because you don’t know who you’re fighting.
“You don’t know nothing about the guy, and you’ve always got to be in shape and ready to fight. When I was where Mark is, a lot of young guys tried to take you down to build themselves up. These are the hardest fights when you’re just coming up.”
Williams sparred with Tucker several times helping him to prepare for his recent triumph over Winky Wright.
“Mark has a good fighting style and he can punch,” Williams said. “He helped me get ready for Winky Wright. That’s why I’m here to support him because he supports me. Anytime you’ve got a guy like Mark with a good attitude and good work ethic that doesn’t cause any headaches in the camp, that’s a good sign.”
“You’ve got to have heart in this business, and Mark has a huge heart,” Williams said. “If you don’t have no heart, you can have good skills, but if you get in a dogfight, you’re going to lose because you don’t have what it takes inside to pull it out.
“Mark has everything that it takes. All he needs is to be patient and pay his dues. Just like I was where he is back in the day, he can get to where I am right now. Trust me, Mark is for real. Remember his name. He deserves and gets a lot of respect. He’s on his way.”
Bring Tucker to D.C.
ReplyDeleteThanks the madness bring boxing back too D.C.
ReplyDeleteBring!!! the The Beltway TOO D.C.
ReplyDeletePaul may be a good fighter but he is no judge of talent. Anyone who believes that Tucker can fight should watch the Yahoo Sports bout that was on the undercard of a Top Rank show at Madison Square Garden. He is a big, slow, joke. As soon as he fights a credible opponent he will be gone.
ReplyDeleteI agree with the above comments. Tucker needs to fight an opponent with some true skills. He is currently ducking some fighters in the D.C. area because his father knows that he has no chance of beating these fighters. Mark Sr. start letting your son fight some quality opponents. He had a chance before with a big promoter and didn't cut the mustard well even with a win. I guess that's why you're the promoter now. Hope you're paying him good.
