Cummings, Davis Battle for Maryland Super Middleweight Title May 29 in Baltimore!

Two veteran Beltway super middleweights will battle for the Maryland Super Middleweight championship on the next Baltimore Pro Boxing card on Friday, May 29 at Du Burns Arena in Baltimore. Baltimore's Corey "Black Ice" Cummings will take on Bladensburg, MD's Demetrius Davis in the scheduled 10-round main event.

Cummings has a record of 16-4, 12 knockouts, but all four losses have come in his last five bouts, over a three-year period. Cummings lost a tough 12-round split decision to Berry Butler in September of 2006 at Martin's West in Woodlawn, MD. Cummings also lost distance bouts to former world champions Keith Holmes and Montell Griffin before losing his last outing, a 12-round unanimous decision to Chris Henry for the NABF Light Heavyweight title in November of 2008 in Dallas, TX.

Davis (19-14-5, seven KO's) will be in his seventh bout since his comeback began in May of 2007 after a nine-year hiatus from the sport. Davis lost his first three bouts of the comeback in 2007 by close decisions, but he is currently unbeaten in his last three bouts, including a six-round unanimous decision over Rowland Bryant on January 17 in Kissimmee, FL.

Also slated for the card will be undefeated Baltimore welterweight James "Keep 'Em Sleepin'" Stevenson (8-0, eight KO's), DC heavyweight Maurice Byarm and Baltimore welterweight Tim "Pitbull" Coleman.

  6. Mike gots another fight in the works already, some huge news coming though. I'll let Mike or Digital release that though. It's HUGE.

I would love to see Mayes-Paschal though, that would be a great defense for Henry's MD Light Heavyweight Title

  7. James Stevenson is the best prospect in this area...and that's no bull.

Ice, this should be an easy W for you. Take his confidence early!!

  8. I'd like to see Maurice Byarm vs Seth Mitchell. Have they sparred in the gym? If so, how did it go?

Maurice Byarm looked powerful in his last outing and I look forward to May 29th.

  9. I think Stevenson is an outstanding prospect. The gap is a little closer between Stevenson and Bayan Jargal for the best prospect in the area, although I would still lean towards Jargal.

Stevenson's potential seems to be limitless at this stage. Good boxing ability, great power. It will be fun to see him progress.

Easy "W" for Ice I don't think so.
Davis will frustrate Ice and beat him. It will be a tough fight though.
