Undefeated Eldersburg, MD light heavyweight Mark "TNT" Tucker has an opponent for his Friday, April 24 main event contest at the Shipley Arena in Westminster, MD.
Tucker (8-0, seven KO's) will take on veteran Ross "The Boss" Thompson of Buffalo, NY in an eight-round contest. Thompson (27-12-2, 17 KO's) has fought a who's who of champions and contenders throughout his 16-year career including Kelly Pavlik, Jeff Lacy, Fernando Vargas, Aaron Davis, Mads Larsen and Antwun Echols. Thompson went the distance with Pavlik, Lacy and Echols and lost by fourth-round stoppage to Vargas for the IBF Junior Middleweight title. Thompson has only been stopped inside the distance three times in his career and it hasn't happened since 2003.
Tucker will be the third Beltway Boxer that Thompson has faced in his career. Thompson lost an eight-round unanimous decision to Henry Buchanan on March 1, 2008 in Carson, CA and stopped Antonio Reese in the fifth round on the "Triple Jeopardy" card on April 24, 1999 at Verizon Center in DC.
Holy s**t that's a big step up! Do your thing Mark... Your team taking this fight shows tremendous confidence.
