McCalla-Mackey Matchup Headlines April 30 Card in Woodlawn!

A nice eight-round middleweight matchup headlines the Baltimore Pro Boxing card on Thursday, April 30 at Martin's West in Woodlawn, MD. Undefeated Cecil "AK-47" McCalla of Randallstown, MD will take on his toughest foe to date -- John "No Mercy" Mackey from Montgomery, AL by way of Washington, DC.

McCalla (6-0, two KO's) is coming off a strong, six-round unanimous decision victory over Anthony Little on March 19 in Woodlawn. Mackey (11-2-1, five KO's) lost his last contest, a 10-round unanimous decision to Anthony Greenridge for the NABA US Middleweight title on December 13 in Atlanta, GA.

The co-feature is slated to be another eight-round bout as undefeated Baltimore, MD welterweight James "Keep 'em Sleepin'" Stevenson (7-0, seven KO's) faces perhaps his toughest foe to date as he battles veteran Doel Carrasquillo of Reading, PA (12-11-1, 10 KO's). Stevenson scored a second-round TKO over Ken Dunham on the March 19 card in Woodlawn. Carrasquillo's last five opponents (including Stevenson) have had a combined won-loss record of 50-4-1. Carrasquillo went to the distance with four of those five (only Bayan Jargal scored a knockout on Carrasquillo in the final round of a scheduled eight-round contest on November 6 in DC).

Also slated to appear on this card is Baltimore junior welterweight Tim "Pitbull" Coleman (15-1-1, four KO's) who will battle Joshua "Poison" Onyango of Trenton, NJ (14-17-1, 11 KO's) in a bout scheduled for either six or eight rounds.

Five other bouts are scheduled for this card.

  4. I am surprised they are even matched up. McCalla has only a few fights and looks good, but tough opponent.

  5. Cecil is good but that might be a big fight for him.

  6. Probably will be a bad, fight for him...on the win side, but how good and perhaps educational to have an opportunity to fight Mackey. Even if he loses he will definitely be taking a step up.

I like them both, Just don't know why they would throw McCalla in with Mackey at this stage of his development.

Are these the same cats that are handling Shot Gun?

  14. After defeating Toris Brewer(14-2) of South Carolina I am now turning my attention to the beltway to clean up the scene. When I say I am cleaning up the scene I mean fighting opponents with inflated and protected records who cheat the spectator. This will no longer happen upon my watch!!!The 2 people in the beltway I see as a disease to the sport #1 Tony Jeter he has fought opponents with a combined record of 20-56, disgusting!!!Promotes shows and fights bums then hypes it up like he is a world beater or something.I heard once he went through 8 fighters before the boxing commission would approve one of the opponents he had selected for himself.Who will Tony Jeter fight next my grandmother!!!!Next on the list Jessie Nicklow. He was on the recieving end of a gift when he was actually knocked out by War Time and still given the win. This should not happen in our great sport! He then had the nerve to call out James Kirland, this immedidiately set off an alarm with me.He has fought outside of Maryland once. And got dismantled. No Jessie you can't fight for a world title because I am going to put an end to you.And yes I will move down in weight to keep you from draggng this sport through the mud anymore you piece of overhyped trash.I am sure this message will fall on deaf ears because the 2 "fighters" mentioned above do not follow the warriors code.

I am CUJO and I approve this message
