was it a mistake or does he not like certain coaches? either way, he needs to stay home on sat nights and enjoy his skinny pitiful wannabe german shepard.
ReplyDeletewho trains abodurin akinyanju?
ReplyDeletedo you have him play checkers to get him in such great shape? you almost drowned him last night with the fire hose water bottle. i notice you even had two water bottles and emptied them both into his mouth after the 1st round.
COACH OF THE YEAR! HANDS DOWN!
last week favors kicked two coaches out the corner - one for simply asking "can't I talk", this week he let Nomis kid take a beating when he was obviously ready to quit but his crazy coach would have called him a " sucka" and stole the fight from fox with a slapping call that i heard changed a 4-1 win to a 3-2 loss. I think favors is trying to implement every rule in the rule book in three weeks and a few he hit made up. Stayed tuned for Waldorf.
ReplyDeletefloyd is friendly with the national officials and if they dont like you, YOU ARE GONE, SCREWED....PERIOD. doesnt matter how good you are. all you have to be, is accused. so sometimes if up you lose, the fighter didnt beat you, someone doesnt like you. we need someone to understand these kids, speak up for them if what they are accused them of is wrong, instead of hanging them. ITS SAD.
ReplyDeletei give these young kids a lot of credit. what they have to deal with is incredible. it hurts when people try to remind you that you are something you shouldnt be. just when you think its safe, youre not

ReplyDeleteForget about floyd. Let's talk about some of the match ups they had Saturday!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteFloyd Favors is partial retarded and you guys need to go light up on him. Its not his fault he has a stale walnut for a brain.
ReplyDeleteFloyd better be lucky Kenny Baysmore was not working a corner. Remember what happened last time he spoke out of the side of his neck,
ReplyDeleteTechnically you can't just blame Floyd. Judges can dispute the refs call and not deduct. If you go along with Floyd, it's like a moron leading morons. PVA is so happy to have judges and officials that they can't discipline Floyd for fear he might not show up.
ReplyDeleteFOX WON THAT FIGHT EASY!
ReplyDeleteFloyd took the fight from Fox last night. Grayton couldn't get past the hook. Floyd gets way too involved in the bouts. He started his gym, but since that didn't work, he tries to coach while he refs.
ReplyDeleteEveryone knows that Fox is the true champ! Everyone also knows that Floyd is a control freak with a cheese brain.
ReplyDeletetook me a minute to get that one.
ReplyDeleteCheese has holes all through it-right?
Why did Kenny Baysmore beat Floyd up before?
ReplyDeleteIt was a pro fight dummy. Kenny knocked him out cold in the 2nd round. Floyd woke up 26 minutes laster asking did he make weight???
ReplyDeleteFOX LOST THAT FIGHT!
ReplyDeletecan we have the bout sheet for the finals?
ReplyDeleteits cool yall talk bout bo fight like that...the simple fact is i believe he hasn't fought in a year that was his first bout and he 's been injured not taking away from the ron guy but catch bo by late july and the person who wrote the 3rd comment on this page will eats his words...then u will know whos the coach of the year...punks
ReplyDeleteAs soon as I receive the bout sheet, I will post.
ReplyDeletepeople need to give floyd a break, he is the second best ref. in the area. Floyd ref's the way they ref. when u make it to the nationals. When the ref doesn't enforce the rules here it hurt's our boxer's when they go out of town. We need a ref. like floyd to get our boxer's ready for the national's
ReplyDeleteA Gary D, did u no that they reversed the decision in the flores vs. guerrero bout. Guerrero got the decision and will be boxing for the championship
ReplyDeletefloyd is the 2nd best ref where? Are you kidding me? I don't know what you based that on, but you can just look at the coaches and boxers who have done very well on the national scene - and don't have any issues with following the rules at tournaments, but somehow always get penalized by not all PVA refs, but just Mr. Floyd. I've seen Brent Bovell at national, intl shows but I can't remembe seeing Floyd at the JOs, PAL, National Silvers, etc. So again, you can't really ignore the fact that people are always complaining about him and look at WHO those people are before you say that he's doing a favor to our boxers/coaches to prepare them for national scene. The same ones winning at those same national tournaments, just may be the same people complaing. Something to think about. . .
ReplyDeleteFloyd will never make it to the nationals. Who ever believes that he will, has never been to the nationals. Floyd will continue to red local amateur shows and that's it. You see Malik and Kenny move to pros, but not Floyd. Even Brent moved up after a year or two. Boxing punishes Floyd and Floyd is punishing boxing!
ReplyDeletetha was a great bout between fox and grayton. I thought grayton pulled it out in the third round with his aggressiveness. Fox boxed beautifully the first two rounds. The point deduction was crazy, because it wasn't a slap grayton's head came forward and fox's puch went behind his head. Overall it was a good bout
ReplyDeleteFloyd is just a symptom of a bigger problem with new PVA direction. From having the USA Tournament in a 14" illegal ring TO not wanting to pay for the USA Open Tournament athletes TO travel this year (compare reinbursement of $100 to previous year's support) TO the 3 minute Novice rounds at the USA Tourney and 2 minute Open Class rounds at the GGs - I don't know what is going on in this area but I know that there are definitely eyes looking at what's going on here. You can't always think that you are operating in a bubble, so ya'll need to get it together.
ReplyDeleteI really didn't agree with the decision, but it doesn't matter. DayDay came to compete and he did. He had nothing to do with the points deducted, he did what he had to do. The points gave him the decision, but I'm man enough to congratulate him. One more Dream to go, but other than that good luck in the Golden Gloves. Once again, congratulations DayDay, well see you again one day!
ReplyDeleteI think the last poster is right the pva. needs to get it together. Back to Floyd's reffing. Floyd is starting to be known on the national scene. Colorado reconizes him as a good ref. I will admit that he make's mistakes, and get's to involved in the action, but overall he does a good job. Ask Brent he wll tell u the same
ReplyDeleteFloyd doesn't train boxers, so he doesn't know what it means to throw a coach out of the corner abandoning his boxer. It's all showtime for him. A chance to be in control. He doesn't realize what this team put in at the gym. If Simon can throw temper tantrums in the corner, and still remain, then why can't a coach ASK Floyd if he is allowed to talk? Itsva shame he is in the position to effect people's lives!!
ReplyDeleteWhen did Floyd go to Colorado? What tournament? Boxing or officiating?
ReplyDeleteColorado recognizes him as a good ref? I don't even know what that means? Not sure if you know but Colorado has their own problems and housekeeping (or should I say house cleaning) is underway there too. I don't even know if saying colorado is behind you is actually a benefit or detriment at this point, but it still doesn't matter when the coaches and boxers that you are supposed to be supporting, teaching and getting ready aren't happy with the job that you're doing. If you just completely ignore complaints which are more and more each week - are you really trying to be a better ref, boxer or coach? Wake up man and work with us and not against us.
ReplyDeleteOrlando Pugh 11-09-82 has a theft warrant for his arrest. Was caught on cell phone video stealing gym bag from local boxing facility in PG County.
ReplyDeleteI seen tape, they are the dumbest crooks ever. Investigators were laughing their asses off. They are now in the process of finding out the names of the co=defendants.
ReplyDeleteTo make things worse, boxing gear belong to a local pastor.
he be better off if police catch him first!!!
ReplyDeleteLMFAO LMFAO LMFAO
ReplyDeleteWhat about the other Open match ups? Govan v. Genova, Williams v. Diane? What did you think?
ReplyDeletewhere is the people now talking about getting robbed you dont here this guy saying good job go back in the gym and train harder than next time you might win bullshit once again the officials got it wrong and they will do nothing to fix it.once again favors you suck keep up the good work
ReplyDeleteYou must be from laurel gym if your asking about the fights of two laurel boxers. Govan and diane
ReplyDeleteim from ny and their officials are the worst. michael "biggie" oconnor, who has one amateur boxer son, bryan in jail and the other son mike jr ko'd in his 2nd pro bout, joe higgins, salinas, and metro's love gal deni auclair lie on kids to destroy their careers. we must kiss ass or our kids will never win locally or nationally. there is more to be said and the truth will come out. corruption, lies. 2 be continued.
ReplyDeleteActually I am not from the Laurel gym. I am just tired of hearing about the Favors comments. Lets talk about the fights from Saturday!
ReplyDeleteThree fighters from CLUB ONE FITNESS are in the finals.
ReplyDeleteGood luck to
Charles Dobbin
Ron Gamble
Slick Nick Kisner
TONY JETER
O sorry about that. I'm getting tired of hearing about floyd favors to. They had some good matches on Saturday. I feel sorry for everyone who was looking forward to the highly anticipated bout between marcus Gaddis vs. Antonio Magruder. Marcus pulled out of the tournament because he had already qualified for the U.S nationals saying he doesn't have anything to prove.
ReplyDeletemarcus didn't pull out of anything. . .he was never in the golden gloves to begin with. it's not even a qualifier for the USA this year, so even winning national ggs doesn't get you to usa anymore. oh, btw, the usa winners get cash money every month for the entire year, so if you had to pick between the two - I would go with the usa too.
ReplyDeleteWHAT MARCUS AND MAGRUDER NIGHT FIGHTING? DAMN!
ReplyDeletewow, no marcus v mcgruder? we still have some good bouts this weeekend.
ReplyDeletethe countdown to the dc golden gloves finals continues. any predictions which stars will shine the brightest? a wonderful night of boxing awaits.
ReplyDeletei read where people was dissing eric govan. eric spars tim coleman. people will see what he is made of friday.
ReplyDeleteclub one is sending 3 boxers to the finals. good job club one. wanna see this govan kid fight. who is he fighting?
ReplyDeletei thougt the bouts were just ok saturday. They charged too much money for only nine fights. Too bad we didn't get to see whitlock vs. bynum, that would have been a great bout. Fox and Day Day, was the best bout of the night, the rest weren't that good. The heavyweight from club one put on a good show, even though u could tell Bo wasn't in no shape, heshould have set this one out
ReplyDeletehow is marcus not in the tournament? thats crazy,,hes the us open champ,,,back to back tournaments go for the triiple crown! is magruder in the tournament,,if so who will he fight?, hes the true champ forreal,,so marcus shouldnt duck that rec,,,see whos the real 119lb champ... man,,these days sure has changed,,,how u win the us and dont fight in the golden gloves?? lil gary won them both @ 16...let me find out marcus camp scared! how u not going to fight in the golden gloves???? crazy!
ReplyDeletethe dc gg is a very important tournament. any one who think its not is mistaking. legends are born it the gloves and the momentum carries over to the nationals. lets talk about the boxers in the finals. ron gamble is the rick ross of amateur boxing(mr. officer). he should do well. what are the predictions for 152, 165, and 178lbs. its very interesting here
ReplyDeletewhat happen to the guerrd boy,ha,ha
ReplyDeleteliked the way govan beat genova, but i think this week, the kid he is fighting friday is no genova....
ReplyDeleteliked the way govan beat genova, but i think this week, the kid he is fighting friday is no genova....
ReplyDeleteDC gg is a joke. There was no bracket sheet made, started 3 hrs late one night, give out $2 medals for all the boxers good work and now natl doesn't even advance you to USA. USA is much more prestigiuos and includes stipends for all winners for the rest of the year. GG doesn't have the prestige it once had because it relied on the history to attract boxers and there are many other "better" opportunities to face competition just as good or better.
ReplyDeletecan we please have the bout sheets for friday night?
ReplyDeleteI haven't received the bout sheet yet.
ReplyDeletewe got nick kisner in the building, we got day day, we got thomas williams, we got ronald gamble. we are gonna have a good time friday. we got whitlock, little kevin, we even got a peterkin v govan rematch. these are the young men carrying the torch for the dc gg. i wish them well.
ReplyDeletei like govan, but peterkin got at bo kinda bad the first night in the regionals of the usa nationals last month.... real bad. govan has shown some improvement but peterkin has more experience, and he is hungry. i pick peterkin, he is too strong for govan.
ReplyDeletethe gg. tournament is terrible this year. And for all those people who say legends are made in the gg. Clearly dont no amatuer boxing. Why didn't all these boxer's come out for the usa's the real tournament. Most boxer's are still in school right now that's why thier not participating, the usa national's are in june when school is over. Mr. gaddis has o concentrate on school that's why he's not fighting.
ReplyDeletegaddis is a very good boxer, but kids who won the usa competing in the dc gg are: kevin rivers, who wins impressively on every level he boxed on. elvis medrano: his great bout with omar douglas is on dc boxing. thomas williams: todd un-thankful-may said no thanks after fighting williams. travis peterkin: impressed at the usa with 3 wins. 1 bout of his should be on dc boxing. these boxers, and many more will do the dc gg proud friday night.
ReplyDeletewe will still honor our fallen soilders. gary allen russell, gaddis, we will miss you guys presence. especially gary allen, who veteran leadership will be missed heading into the nationals. but we have young soilders who may be ready to take that veteran leap. good luck boxers
ReplyDeletePaul Koon is the baddest heavyweight in the USA-see him live on youtube.com
ReplyDeleteI saw Koon last year. Strong boxer, but Nick gave him fits in his first open tourney. Did Philly have their GGs yet?
ReplyDeletePaul Koon is small compared 2 C.J but if C.J uses his reach on all of them then he give them trouble in the Nationals this year. C.J said that he will dedicate this 2 his old trainer Mr. Jacobs cause he's like his father.
ReplyDeleteAbout the Ref. Floyd Favors Jr., does his father work with Amateur Boxing, too? No! I saw the Da-Da -v- Fox bout and that Fox kid was slapping. A lot of the Headbangers slap, too. It is the Coach of the team to get the boxer to throw the punch correctly. Don't blame the Ref. blame the coach. Floyd was a 3-time National, 3-time World Champion, and a DC Hall of Famer. Yes, his Pro career was not as good, but you people that are downing him for helping the kids for free. Have not boxed, if you did, you were not that good, if you were, you are not complaining. Now! I've been in boxing and I use to box. A lot, including FOX the father, doesn't know how to box. Yet, he's helping the children. Learn to except positive criticism. Your child (boxer) will learn to bitc? just like you. You suppose to display to the child how, when something is not in your favor, to act. I boxed and trained with Floyd with William Dunlap. Dunlap taught us to except the dec. when it was not in your favor. You all down Floyd for what he has done, but not one of you have done nothing close to what he has done in boxing. He is a Police Ofc. in DC, and he can control an entire complex by just showing up. He was real with us when he stopped us! In Boxing, you will lose, you will get knocked out. Be an example to excepting the dec. and correcting the problem that the boxer may have. If, Floyd was so wrong, Brent Bovall would have pulled Floyd along time ago!
ReplyDeleteTrust me! Father Fox . . .your son was slapping, but I thought that he won even with the lost 2 points. Just tell your son, we need to correct that left-hook. Not, that dam Floyd cost you the bout. Your son will start blaming or looking for something outside of him, when something goes against him, in life as well as in the ring.
Hats off to that Superheavyweight out of Club One. He fought very hard April 17th in Waldorf. Truly a force to be reckoned with
ReplyDeleteFLOYD FAVORS JR GOT THE AWARD FOR BEST REF. AT THE 2009 NATIONALS. HE SHOWED YOU ALL THAT IT'S NOT HIM,IT'S YOU.
