Silver Spring, MD-based junior welterweight Ben Ankrah weighed in at 140 3/4 for his 10-round main event bout against world title contender "Mighty" Mike Arnaoutis of Atlantic City tonight at the Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Arnaoutis came in at 142. According to Fightnews.com, the two camps waged words after the weigh-in and things got a little heated.
Ankrah, a native of Ghana (11-7, three KO's), is one of the members of The Lion's Den camp that is based in Silver Spring. Arnaoutis (20-2-2, 10 KO's) is ranked by all four of the major governing bodies (WBO #7, IBF #8, WBA #11, WBC #15).
The bout will be broadcast live over the internet for free on www.gofightlive.tv.
Meanwhile, the bout featuring Baltimore heavyweight Bernard "Bad Ass" Brown that was slated for tonight at Medieval Times in Lyndenhurst, NJ has been called off because of what was reported as a "documentation error."
