Major Beltway Schedule Update!

Over the last 12 hours, I have been bombarded with news about the fall Beltway Boxing Schedule. There are a number of changes and additions to the schedule which means we will be VERY busy in the next few months.

Here is where we stand at this moment:

First, a couple of out-of-town situations:

Undefeated DC junior welterweight Ty Barnett apparently is no longer on the September 11 card at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, CA. Barnett (14-0-1, 10 KO's) does not appear on Boxrec's listing for this bout.

Riverdale, MD heavyweight Horace "The Reason" Grant is off the Nate Campbell-Joan Guzman undercard in Biloxi, MS on Saturday, September 13. Monetary issues were the reasons given to me as to why Grant (12-2, seven KO's) is off the card.

Baltimore lightweight Darrell Martin is slated to be on a card on Friday, September 12 at the Legendary Blue Horizon in Philadelphia, PA. Martin (2-5) will take on the debuting Derek Bivins of Philadelphia in a four-round contest.

Our next Beltway stop will be the maiden voyage for Better Promotions on Friday, September 19 at the Maryland Sportsplex in Millersville, MD. There are some interesting changes to this card.

It looks like "The Mongolian Mongoose" Bayan Jargal may not be on this card after all for a combination of reasons. Sources have told me that the undefeated junior welterweight from Arlington has been working in the training camp of WBO Welterweight champ Paul "The Punisher" Williams. Jargal has been so impressive in camp that the trainers won't let him leave! Jargal apparently has been compensated very well for his work down there also. The other aspect has been a disagreement with the length of the bout with Carlos Cisneros as to whether it should be a six- or eight-round contest. So, barring any last-minute changes, Jargal will probably not be on this card.

I can also now tell you the reason why Waynesboro, VA cruiserweight Juan Carlos Robles will not be on the card. Robles, as some of you probably surmised, was in the running for the new season of "The Contender." Robles was in the semi-final 18 that went to Los Angeles for the final interview. Unfortunately, Robles did not make the final cut of 16 to go to Singapore for the start of the season four taping.

As to those who will be on the card: Tony "Mo Better" Jeter, Shelly Seivert and Mark "TNT" Tucker.

Ballroom Boxing returns for its 15th season on Thursday, September 25th at Michael's Eighth Avenue in Glen Burnie, MD. No word yet as to who will be on the card.

There is also slated to be a Major Heavy Hitters-promoted card slated for either Wednesday, September 17 or Wednesday, September 24. The card will be back at the Ibiza Nightclub in DC.

Now let's move to October. I was not originally going to talk about this card, but since it has already been mentioned on some boxing websites, I will tell you what I know.

There is a card slated for Friday, October 3 at the Wicomico Youth and Civic Center in Salisbury, MD. Reports have told me that this will be a tri-promotion between Prize Fight Boxing, Duva Boxing and Baltimore Pro Boxing. Let me emphasize that the card has NOT been etched in stone yet. There are still some details to work out with the Maryland State Athletic Commission.

If everything holds together, this will be a nationally televised (ShoBox) card that will feature the return of undefeated Baltimore welterweight Tim "Pitbull" Coleman as well as undefeated rookie middleweight Fernando Guerrero, who will be fighting in his hometown for the first time as a pro.

Once again, however, this card is not a done deal yet.

Northern Virginia gets back into the mix with a card at the ABC Sports Arena in Springfield, VA on Saturday, October 18. This is a co-promotion with Sugar Han Promotions and After Shock Events. Scheduled to be on this card are Andre "Clockwork" Nichols, Tracey Brewer, Norman "The Shadow" Allen and Kendrick "Holy Hands" Walker. Also John "No Mercy" Mackey will headline the card, fighting in a North American Boxing Council middleweight title bout.

Then on Thursday, October 30, it's the benefit boxing card for the Jonathan Ogden Foundation at Martin's Valley Mansion in Cockeysville, MD. No word yet as to who will be on the card.

Now we move to November, where there are already some interesting fights lined up.

We already know that Saturday, November 1 will mark the return of Great Falls, VA junior middleweight Jimmy Lange to the George Mason University Patriot Center in Fairfax, VA. No word yet as to whom the opponent will be for Lange.

However, one bout has been signed for this card. This will be a lightweight rematch between Alexandria, VA's Jaime "The Punisher" Palma and Dean "Pitbull" White of Smithsburg, MD. Palma defeated White by eight-round unanimous decision on September 15, 2007 in Springfield, VA for the Virginia State Lightweight title. Neither man has won since. Palma (13-12-1, three KO's) has lost two in a row while White (14-9-1, seven KO's) lost his last bout at Fight Night in DC in November of 2007.

Speaking of Fight Night, the benefit Fight For Children card will be on Thursday, November 6 at the Washington Hilton and Towers in DC.. I have been told that there is one bout already signed for this card and it, too, will be a rematch. "The Berlin Bomber" Joshua Snyder will battle John "No Mercy" Mackey. The last time these two met was in front of a nationally televised ESPN2 bout on June 13 in Scranton, PA. Snyder (7-3, three KO's)won a four-round majority decision, knocking Mackey (10-1, four KO's) down in the final round and giving Mackey his first pro loss.

The very next night -- Friday, November 7 -- marks the return of boxing to the Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, MD. This will be a card promoted by the "Don King of Southern Maryland," Bobby Magruder. No word yet on who will be on the card.

Four more cards are slated for November, but the only ones that have definite dates are the Better Promotions card on Friday, November 14 at the Maryland Sportsplex in Millersville and the Baltimore Pro Boxing card on Wednesday, November 26 at Martin's West in Woodlawn, MD. Ballroom Boxing has a card slated for November as does Babie Girl Productions at the DC Armory, which is slated to be a "Triple Threat" card featuring pro and amateur boxing as well as mixed martial arts.

Get ready for a busy fall!

  1. Wow that's a busy couple of months!

I guessed the Contender had something to do with Robles being off that card...shame he didn't make the cut :(
Any word if any Beltway Boxers did?

So Major Heavy Hitters isn't coming back to Ibiza anytime soon as far as you know?

  6. Not completely. They are working on some bouts, but nothing I can talk about because they are not done deals yet.

  7. So your saying that John Mackey is headlining the card at the ABC on Oct 18 and then is fighting Josh Snyder two weeks later at the hilton.

    ReplyDelete
  8. That's what I have been told. Anything can happen, though. Mackey's having a tough time finding an opponent for the 18th, though.

  9. 2 weeks and 5 days to be exact.
Knowing John Mackey he will be ready for both nights.

  10. You're right. anything could happen.

I'm not even looking at these dates because I know some will be canceled, or post-poned all together.

The wide-world-of-boxing is a finicky one.

  11. Gary did you hear that Ham is working on a Co Promotion deal with Johny Lange. I just spoke with him at Round 1 is this true or Ham just talking $hit

    ReplyDelete
  12. Too bad the Mongoose was dropped from the 19th...still looking forward to that show!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I haven't heard about a co-promotion deal with Ham but there is talk about Mark Johnson possibly being on the November 1show, fighting at 130 against Dorin Spivey.

That is definitely NOT a done deal, though.

  14. Digital, you mean "Too Sharp"? I'd love to see him live.

Any new word on the Ibiza show?

And any word if any Beltway boxers WILL be on the Contender?

  15. jargal drop from the show because they was worry they had to fight todd wilson.

    ReplyDelete
  16. there are those that think Todd Wilson and Byan Jargal are on the same level. What does everybody else Think?

    ReplyDelete
  17. todd is above jargal and farmer.they will not fight him.

    ReplyDelete
  18. What a funny comment

    ReplyDelete
  19. Todds people keep trying to keep his name in the mix by mentioning his name with Jargal and Farmer.
You guys better be careful one of these guys camps might call your bluff, then what are you gonna do. Call ghost busters?

    ReplyDelete
  20. what a joke, someone lost there mind.i think they are trying to make him the next jimmy lang.lang can fight a little bit.todd!keep fighting bums thats as far as you can go.

    ReplyDelete
  21. No disrepect to Todd Wilson he is not even in the same league with Jargal, that fight can be made if Wilsons people would like to make it, that would be a great co-feature on the big Jimmy Lange card November 1

    ReplyDelete
  22. bruce give us a call,we will take the fight.

    ReplyDelete
  23. I WILL TAKE THAT FIGHT IN A HEARTBEAT FOR jARGAL ,IF JOHNNY LANGE WANTS TO MAKE THAT FIGHT ON HIS CARD.THE MANAGEMENT TEAM FOR BAYAN JARGAL......SAYS CALL

    ReplyDelete
  24. You know something, go ahead and sell Todd Wilson short if you want to but he's a whole lot better and a whole lot tougher than you think. Plus, he doesn't have to be for fights like Jargal does. Jargal couldn't sell flies to a pile of shit and everybody in boxing knows it. Sure, he's not bad, but he ain't great either. You know something else? I think Andrew Farmer is better than both of them. Why on earth would their managment teams put Farmer in with Wilson at this point? Makes absolutely no friggin' sense at all. And Jargal is going to be the odd man out. That is unless he's the real deal of course. If he's the real deal one of the big boys can pick him up and then he could be on his way. Talk shit to Todd Wilson and act like it's from Bayan Jargal all you want. Whatever floats your boat and keeps it afloat. But for the record, Jargal needs Wilson more than Wilson needs Jargal. In fact Farmer doesn't need Jargal either. And that's the economics of boxing in a nutshell.

  25. In the previous post this sentence:

"Plus, he doesn't have to be for fights like Jargal does"

    Should have said

He (Todd Wilson) doesn't have to BEG for fights like Jargal does.

  26. Back to that "thoroughbreds and ponys" comments again. None of those guys, Wilson, Jargal, or Farmer can be considered thoroughbreds. They ain't bad, but they ain't great either. The thoroughbreds from this area, by and large, end up with a national promoter and fight on the national circuit. Those guys aren't bad, don't get me wrong, but it's going to be hard for any of them to break in to the elite. So no, none of them are thoroughbreds you miserable, disrespectful, two faced, pitiful, lying scumbag!

  29. To whoever is listening I am sitting here with Willie Taylor and we are both in agreement that
we have nothing personal against Todd Wilson but we would welcome a fight with him for either of our fighters ie: Andrew Farmer or Byan Jargal. As for Jargal and Farmer not being able to get fights thats only because the guys are very good fighters. So if you guys want
it' promote a show and give one of us a contract.
    Signed Scott Farmer and
    Willie Taylor.
So as mills Lane puts it :lets get it on

  31. david novic, edward anderson, henry goss, jay watts.a record of 6-19 you know what the more i think about it,todds camp your are a joke.i never said at any time my fighter was all that.nor do I say much about him.we just fight dont say much, and keep going.what any body else say on the post they have the right to.but keep are name out it,i dont know who you where talking to when you said you will hurt in a painful way, bring it. just because todd can sell ticket dont mean he can fight.i been in boxing for over 30yrs and i can tell you he cant, local he ok step out the box forget it.you can fool yourself all you want.real boxing people knows better.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Scum bag with a capitol S if you please. Thanks so much.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Todd, move on and distance yourself. Not worth it. Wipe the slate clean and be the dynamic fighter you are. Don't get locked into this waste of time.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Todd, I am just now fine-toothing this thread and if none of these posts are by you, then apologize for posting. If you are in the mix even as an anon. I stand by what I said. Get outside the limited box and go do what you do! You are an exciting fighter, who brings class and drama with your gloves and charismatic awesome fans!

  35. its very humorous when I read all the post on this site, first of all whoever is writing these comments for Bayan Jargal about what he wants ,should stop because i'm his Manager,I have kept a low profile because what we had planned , and I have a major plan for his career and fights with Andrew Farmer and Todd Wilson are not in our plans ,I respect what Scot Farmer and Joe Hensly have done with there fighters most of you don't understand what it takes to build a fighter,it is very difficult, and you have to be careful with the route you go with your fighters if you want to be successful.I am in the process of looking at a promotional deal with several major promoters,Bayan will be fighting on the undercard of World Champion Paul Williams in California on September 25th and on the big Fight Night card on November6th and on a major card in December. So we do have a plan for an outstanding young fighter and with a little luck he could become one of this regions many WORLD CHAMPIONS to represent us on the big stage, so hey boxing community lets get on board and support guys like Jargal,Farmer, and Wilson to help keep our sport alive. J.D.Brown- Manager of Bayan Jargal

  40. Apologies, J.D. I was a little sidetracked and heated on the conversation (?) about Todd.

You know my opinion of Jargal. Always was glad he was in your capable hands. You have some gold there.
